“Black & White literary”
The Club is well located in Chinatown, but in the more upmarket area of Chinatown, not the old run down area where all the hawker stands are. It is approx a 10 minute walk to either of two MRT stations. The hotel is a a renovated 3 story building and is literary balck & white all over. Everything, is either black or white. When new it would have looked stunning, however now after a couple of years it is starting to look tired. There is nothing worse than white to show up all the defects or dirt. Upon arrival we were greeted by the receptionist and checkin went smoothly and shown to our room. We booked a deluxe room and were given a corner room on the 3rd floor. It was quite large for ahotel room. Again everything black & white. Even the carpet was white, but being white it was stained and patched in places. The room contained a king size bed and one arm chair. There was no other furniture. There was no side table to place your suit case on, no draws to store clothes, although there were some hanging space, not in a wardrobe though. The room was comfortable enough, although the carpet was a little off puttting. There is no room servcie although a basic breakfast is included free of charge at the downstairs coffee shop. Considering everything the club is OK, maybe a little pricey for what you get. Its the location that is what the hotel has going for it. If you wish to stay in Chinatown then the Scarlett next door is better value.
“Great Stay”
This was an excellent Hotel will be returning - we just loved it - but don't tell anyone as we want to keep it to ourselves
“The Club a Good Chinatown Alternative”
The Club is well located in Chinatown close to all the local shopping, attractions and hawkers huts. The MRT station is approx 10 minutes walk away which may be an issue on some of those very hot or very wet Singapore days. We arrived late at night and found everything as expected. The hotel is totally black & white, I mean everything is eitehr black or white which made it look spotless, which is great when everything is new, I'm not sure how it will be in the long term unless it is well maintained. If you don't like large doses of white, this hotel is not for you. Our room was on the 3rd floor and although we could hear the noise from the nightclubs, it was not sufficient to stop us from sleeping. We found it ceased at 1.00am. I know other reviewers listed this as an issue. We found the staff and servcie excellent although sometimes staff were missing from the reception desk. Our only complaint would have to be the breakfast. The cost was included in the room rate, buts thats no excuse for only providing cerals, toast and coffee. Eggs were an extra cost. Overall an excellent hotel close to everything in Chinatown. We would stay again. Good value for money.
“Great boutique hotel experience!”
I was staying at the Club Hotel on business and it was a 10 minute stroll to my office in the financial district which was excellent. The hotel is in a fantastic location for bars, restaurants and sightseeing, however, it is a good 10 minute walk to the nearest MRT station, but there is a bus stop at the end of the street with an excellent service. If you want cheap food the choice of food is overwhelming! You can go to Smith Street in China Town or Maxwell Road, all a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel has a stunning roof top bar and I had a meal in the Tapas restaurant, although the setting was lovely, the food quality was poor. Overall, I really liked this hotel, the rooms were big, clean, bright and homely (with the thick carpet), plus the shower was one of the best I have ever used! However, it needs an extra special touch (eg, complimentary mini bar, better bathroom products or a gym) to match the Scarlet Hotel, which is a boutique hotel next door. The wi-fi connection and choice of TV channels were better than other hotels I have stayed in Singapore. Overall, I will be staying here again as I loved the area where the hotel is situated, right in the heart of the city, plus it was everything you would expect from a boutique hotel, stunning! :)
“Great Chinatown Boutique Hotel”
Very nice boutique hotel. Perfect location, on a street in Chinatown, for going out and wnadering the town. Large, comfortable rooms. Chic rooftop bar and restaurant. Highly recommended, especially for young travelers.
