“One nite stay at Peninsula”

There is no wifi facilty in the room, there is only a broaband connection, and I was being charged SGP$5 for 10 mins internet login. It was stated the internet connection is for SGP$5 per hour, I think it should have said it is SGP$5 per hour per CONNECTION. You can only connect to internet on the study desk. The staffs at front desk are not too helpful, they seems hesitating dealing with your query.

Area recommendations
City Hall, it is within a distance to Orchard road, but it is not as crowded as Orchard Road. There are a lot of shopping centres around.

“Disgusted”

We were disgusted with this hotel from the start. We arrived late at night only to be hit with an unadvised Room deposit and then only to be told the requested room type could not be met and then to be given a room which was already occupied by someone else. (We know this because the key opened the door and we walked in on a poor girl who was half naked). Then to be reassigned with another room which we were advised was non smoking only to find it had been used as a smokers room as it had a high level smoke smell in the room. Enough to make a non smoker feel ill. We complained to a cleaning staff member who sprayed the room with freshner, but smell returned soon after. Our final experience with them was when the in room safe would not open on the morning of our departure in order to retrieve our passports etc and the urgent need to get it opened only to be told there was nobody on duty to help, we replied saying it wasnt good enough and to get someone there. Which they ended up calling someone in.

Area recommendations
Riverside area or Orchard Street. More options for dining and activity.
When to go
We went to Singapore in October/ November. Weather was pretty good. Humid.
Getting there
We flew Silk Air from Chaing Mai, or Singapore Airlines from Australia. We caught the Shuttle Bus from the airport to the hotel. Cost was $9.00 per person. Only problem was had to book 2 hours in advance on return shuttle from hotel to airport, and was a bit confusing and difficult when leaving first thing in the morning.
Getting around
We walked alot. Caught a taxi here and there when needed. Taxi costs not to bad, but if walking distance, better to walk. Only 15 minutes walk from hotel to Sky Flyer. $5.00 for taxi.
What to pack
Singapore climate is nice. If your planning on shopping then pack light. But other wise just light clothing as the humidity makes you sweat alot.
Must see
The Sky flyer for the views. The Duck Tour for the sights and experience. The Museum for history. The Merlion. Santosa Island. The Night Safari for upclose experience at night with the animals.
Shopping
Plenty of malls and shops. No shortage of shopping opportunities.
Dining
Riverside was good with plenty of options and service. Meal prices pretty good. Lots of competition.

“Very good value”

Peninsula Excelsior doesn't claim to be 5-star, and they're not, but the place is clean, comfortable, and in a good location, as well as being priced reasonably. My view was of the government buildings and, directly across, the Marina Sands Resort, which is where I went and spent the money I saved.

“Singapore Hotel”

Good hotel in a central location close to many attractions, restaurants, and transit. Very comfortable room with a terrific view of city. Excellent staff with superior customer service skills. Restaurant offers a buffet breakfast with a 20% discount for cash. Would definitely recommend.

Area recommendations
Colonial District and The Quays for history, architecture, museums, river walk, tour boating, restaurants, shopping. Chinatown for temples, mosques, architecture, Chinese medicines and herbs, shopping, restaurants. Little India, temples, restaurants, shopping. Orchard Road for Botanic Garden and Orchid Collection, shopping.

“Poor quality for the money”

I booked this hotel because of its location for business. Although the service was friendly, I found the hotel shabby, the rooms tiny and difficult to move around in, the extras like internet and breakfast extremely expensive, and the whole place smelled a bit musty. For the money, this should be a much nicer hotel. I'd advise looking around for something better.

“Check in extremely”

Check in extremely slow and we where the only people checking in. I requested rooms close to each other and this was not considered and the hotel did not seem to care. Bathroom was terrible, very small and lots of mould. Fridge had iced up and was replaced when I complained. General housekeeping of both the rooms and corridors not good. If travelling with children check the windows, ours was unlocked very easy to open and a long fall from the 14 th floor. I did report to housekeeping. Location of hotel is great.

“Very good experience at this hotel”

I was visiting Singapore for a mixture of business and recreation. I stayed in a Club room on the 21st floor - great view of the Marina area. The bedroom was a good size and the bed was clean and very comfortable. The bathroom is a little small - shower in the bath with glass screen. I had a problem with the toilet but it was fixed promptly. Breakfast and evening cocktails in the club lounge was included in the price, as was unlimited broadband - the food available in the lounge was OK, service was good. The location was very convenient, short walk to MRT station to give access to City and Orchard Road area. Suntec City is a pleasant underground walk through malls. I will use this hotel again.

Getting around
Use public transport as much as you can. It is cheap and frequent and has excellent coverage of the island.

“Great Spot in SG”

Peninsula Excelsior staff were very helpful and friendly. It is just 2 blocks away from several dozen restaurants where you can choose most any food type you wish.

“Good, but chambermaid's work was strange”

Good hotel, wonderful location. But our room was cleaned near 4 p.m. (!), chambermaid forgot to wash glasses, cups, to return towel.

Area recommendations
Chinatown, Little India. The Maxwell Food court in Chinatown was splendid - best place to taste delicious local food for very reasonable prices (5-10 Singapore dollars).
