“Two blocks from Ramen Alley!”
I was initially a bit worried when I booked our room at the Mercure. The rate was very reasonable, but the hotel didn't appear to be very centrally-located. Luckily, it turned out that the hotel neighborhood of Susukino is actually the nightlife and restaurant epicenter of Sapporo. The Mercure Hotel is perfectly situated in the middle of all the activity. The Norbesa ferris wheel, Nijo fish market, and *two* Ramen Alleys are all within a five minute walk. The hotel is quite new, with clean, and modern rooms and public spaces. Rooms are large by Japanese standards and well-equipped (free Internet!) The staff are utterly professional and always polite. One evening during our stay, we decided that we wanted to have okonomiyaki for dinner. Though this dish isn't a Hokkaido specialty, we mentioned it to the staff member at the front desk. She promised to look into it for us. Sure enough, later that evening, she'd delivered a letter to our room, along with an annotated map describing how to get to a popular local okonomiyaki restaurant! Comfortable rooms, great staff, convenient location, reasonable rates. Highly recommended!
“Great place to stay in Sapporo”
It was a great place to stay. Whilst I can speak a bit of Japanese most of the staff could speak English and went out of their way to ensure that i had everything that I needed- from an umbrella when it was raining to an adapter that I had forgotten. The hotel is in close proximity to everything that you could possibly want/need to do whilst you are in Sapporo. I walked to almost everything. Although if you don't want to walk the subway is also close by.
“Excellent Hotel at Sapporo”
Friendly Staff. Convenient Location. Comfortable room.
“Great Hotel, Great location, Excellent Value for Money”
This hotel was a real supprise. The staff were terrific., the rooms ( we returned) were clean and very comfortable, almost luxurious !! Excellent location, close to subway and 100's of restaurants. Susukino is Sapporo's nightime hub and a comes alive after dark ( but also very safe location ) True value for money hotel. Highly recommended !!
“I know where I will be staying next time I am in Sapporo”
Loved this hotel. The location was really central which was super important to us as we had come to Sapporo for only one night to see the snow festival. On arrival the staff gave us a detailed brochure on the festival in english which was very helpful. The room was so modern and really nice. I wouldn't say it was a huge room but it was certainly big enough to acommodate two large twin beds as well as two girls with two overpacked suitcases!! The staff here are great and gave some delicious "cheap eats" recommendations. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to Sapporo!!! Highly recommended.
“Great location and great modern hotel!”
I didn't realize that we had booked smoking rooms and when we checked in they said all the non-smoking rooms were booked. I couldn't complain since we had initially booked smoking. After a few minutes they approached us and said they would do what they could to change our room and they did! It was great! Thank you...it make a huge difference in our stay! The location was perfect for the snow festival and the price was competitive for the area. Overall, we were very satisfied!
