“Nice Visit”
Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Spoke very good English. Location is good if you are planning to travel by bus to surrounding cities (which we did). It worked out great. Hotel is located literally next to bus station and at times, we could hear buses and/or cars honking their horns. About 25-30 minute walk to where we hung out most - beaches, Old Town and La Brexta. So if you don't like to walk, you need a taxi (about 5.65 euros one way) to take you toward beach, etc., and this would not be the hotel for you. You would need one closer to beaches; however, price was good. Overall, if I visited San Sebastian again, I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel.
“If Your Going to San Sebastian then go to the AMARA PLAZA!”
The Amara Plaza was a great surprise when arriving. Booking the hotel virtually blind, I really didn't know what to expect. First of all, NO ONE speaks English is San Sebastian but when your say AMARA PLAZA, everyone in the city can point the way. Good to know if you don't speak Spanish!! The hotel employees were fluent in English and extremely helpful when asking directions, calling taxis and recommending restaurants. Parking is on site and inexpensive at 15 euro for 24 hrs. The room was not the stereotypical Europe style room. A nice king bed with plently of room, closet space and a nice bathroom area. In house cappucino machine on floor, piano bar, restaurant and cafeteria. It was GREAT! Located just minutes from everything in San Sebastian. We loved it and would stronly recommend it to anyone going to San Sebastian. If your planning to run with the bulls in Pamplona, Like me, Stay at the Amara Plaza and take the 1 hour drive into and out of Pamplona. NO NEED TO STAY IN PAMPLONA you will be dissapointed. Also, located right next to main bus terminal if you are traveling by bus. My wife and I give it a 10!
“Awesome Hotel!”
Great Hotel...10 minute walk from the old town...great restaurant/tapas bar and piano bar connected to hotel. Nice for a drink after a day of touring the old town and eating the tapas! Also it is right next to the bus station so its convenient for getting to your next location. Staff was friendly and very accommodating!
“Great hotel, but one huge downside”
You have a 50/50 chance of staying in a nice hotel. One side has a bus station equal to a US greyhound station, busses honking like they were taxi drivers in NYC. They dont stop all night, or early in the morning. It is hard to fault the hotel, but it makes for an impossible good night's sleep. I read a review of this hotel where someone else complained about the busses, but it is tons worse then they made out. Hotel is very nice. Rooms were better then I expected, and the room service was the fastest I have ever seen. The hotel desk was knew english and was helpful.
“Helpful staff, comfortable room, nice breakfast”
This hotel was easy to find by car, had convenient parking and everything else we needed during our stay in San Sebastian.
