“Nice, friendly hotel”
Great hotel and the rooms were very nice. The neighborhood was not so great but I knew that going in and liked the rooms and convenient location,
“good hotel but not a good neighborhood”
Hotel was very good , clean, had a nice breakfast in the morning but surrounding neighborhood is little dangerous
“over rated”
This is a very high class back packers. No draws, leaving out of suitecase. In. Few short wards. For one who wants clean room yes. For one who wants comfort big no.
“totally recomend”
The hotel is excellent , the neighborhood looks not safe, take a taxi to go some place, even to Union square that is near, but the way looks not safe
“Great hotel, terrible guests and location”
The rooms themselves are fantastic for the price, very modern and comfortable. The location of the hotel is not good -- homeless people sleeping on the streets just outside, gangs of youths roaming at night, etc. Likely due to this, the other guests (when I stayed) were of similarly terrible quality. I was woken up at 2am by a party in the next room, which took the management threatening them to call the police and throw them out on the street for them to quieten down ... at 3:30am.
“A diamond in the rough.....”
The Cova hotel is a diamond in the rough- and if one knows San Francisco, then you will know the "rough" of the tenderloin area. If there is any negative about the hotel, it is the area it is located in. When it gets dark they advise guests not to use Ellis St. because it is located very close to some shelters and guests might have to deal with some unpleasantries. That one detail aside, I will stay there again and will heartily recommend the hotel to my friends. The hotal offers a shuttle to both Union Square and to the Moscone center, as well as to Fisherman's Wharf. And they provide a very nice breakfast for guests. The breakfasts reminded me of the spreads I have experienced in European hotels- save for the waffles! I never got fresh waffles when in Europe! The rooms are compact, but contain all the amenities of larger (and much more expensive) hotels. The staff was courteous and helpful. The place was impeccably clean. It was surrounded by some interesting restaurants- especially if one likes Thai or Vietnamese food, since the hotel is located in an area full of Thai, Vietnamese and Korean establishments. And if one chooses to walk, the BART is within walking distance. All in all, I was completely satisfied with my experience at the Cova!
“Good Value”
Good rooms, very comfortable bed!! Should be aware not airconditioned, and portable unit limited. Well located for tourists walking to Union Square and similiar for much less than others closer , if you can cope with the neighbourhood (many homeless and support services) - I'd definately stay again if in San Francisco. Shuttle bus great service.
“Nice hotel, but has issues”
Good things: The staff are generally nice and helpful. The hotel aesthetics are modern and streamlined. Close to public transportation. Close to Union Square. Not so good things: No AC so you have to keep the windows open at night which comes with downtown noises (garbage trucks, homeless people yelling/singing, sirens, etc.), luckily San Fran is relatively cold. No pool. No dressers to put clothes in and very limited on space within the room. The street where the hotel is located is typically lined with homeless people asking for money or yelling at you.
“DesignGuru”
The area was not to my expectation. The hotel is nice but stay away from the Tenderloin area.
