“Great Value”

This hotel was a great base from which the incredible attractions of Rotorua and surrounds could be explored. The room was very spacious with 2 queens size beds - perfect for this trip away with a friend. The buffet breakfast was excellent.

“Very comfortable accomodation in Rotorua”

Stayed at Rydges for 3 nights in May 2009. Although we booked a standard room it was spacious, warm, clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast was delicious and good value when pre-booked with the room.We found both reception and restaurant staff to be pleasant and efficient.

“Excellent Experience”

We were very pleased with our recent stay at this hotel. It has a beautiful marble tile foyer and lobby. We had a jacuzzi tub on the deck, overlooking the race track. Large, quiet rooms. Close to everything in Rotorua. Service was spotless and fast. We could not have been more pleased with this selection.

“Great hotel, fantastic Expedia price.”

We stayed here for one night as we were passing through the area. We booked based on price and availability but were very pleasantly surprised with the quality and size of our room. We would have expected to pay much more fr something with two huge beds, basic kitchen facilities and such a nice restaurant/bar. A minor gripe was that there was no a/c but the ceiling fan kept us cool despite it being about 25 degrees outside. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is about 1.5km from the lake, a pleasant walk from our point of view. Would definitely stay here again.

“Great hotel for that price”

For the price and service charged, I think it is a bargain. Location is where other motels ( most are one level buildings, compared to 4 storey Rydges) are; and is inbetween the downtown core and the Te Hua Maori Centre. Location is very convenient. Parking is at the side and back of the hotel. There is no charge for parking. Hotel is a main street ( not too noisy) and is right next to a race course. Don't know if that creates excess noise, as we came in late in the evening and left at 9 am. Breakfast was okay, and is a typical buffet breakfast, with bacon, sausages, eggs, baked goods, fresh fruits and beverages. Can't complain. However, no air conditioner in room. Maybe, the temperature here does not get too hot. TV is large flat screen TV. A pleasure to watch.

The hotel was in a good position in Rotorua can walk to shops and eating places and to some attractions. Hotel was of good standard and had range of amenities

The hotel staff was very friendly, check in time is 2pm, but they let me in a bit early. The room was very clean, comfortable, and I loved the minibar. The hotel bar was great, I did not try to restaurant so I cannot comment. All in all, I would recommend this hotel because it is very good, and for the price it's just right, and I would say I got more than I expected for the price. The only downside is that it's a bit of a walk from the center of town if you don't have a car, maybe like a 10-15 minute walk.

“Superb hotel !”

Excellent hotel, fantastic room and we had a great stay at The Rydges. Huge bedroom and super comfy bed. Spotlessly clean and great views over the racecourse and Lake Rotorua. Whilst we only ate dinner on one of the two nights we stayed at this hotel, the quality was superb. Buffet breakfast had a good choice and whilst not quite hot enough on the first morning, the second morning it was fine. Would definitely recommend, worth every penny/dollar !
