“Helpful and professional”

We booked the hotel in order to catch a very early flight next day morning. Vicente, the young man who worked at the front desk, was very helpful. He went to extra miles to help us get ready for the trip. We truly appreciate his assistance. The hotel itself was comfortable, just a short walk to a quiet beach.

“Not easy to find (via GPS) but worth the effort”

Hotel was just fine, near the Rome airport. BUT our GPS system kept trying to turn us down 1-way streets THE WRONG WAY! So we spent a half hour of frustration trying to find the hotel. We asked the hotel about this and they told us that the 1-way streets had been changed. Sooo, we advise anyone to get either directions from (nearby) to the hotel or ge an up to date map of the area. The hotel seems to be in a more residential area near the hotel - and it is quiet and the staff is personable, All good features once you find it! We recommend it - and an up-to-date map to find it.

Area recommendations
If you are not planning to visit only Rome, do consider not only Florence, but Sienna, and many other cities in Tuscany (such as Lucca, San Gimignano). Learn about the history of these places (from popular travel books by Frommer's or such), and you will appreciate the trip even more. The food and the wines are superb. From our friends - always check that your car doors are locked and that you have your passports, credit cards and such in a safe place. Do not take your valuable stuff with you unless you know it can be securely locked everywhere. We had no problem, but friends did - when then unwittingly left their car unlocked... Basically, our trip was perfect, staff at hotels were friendly and helpful. Just be on guard for those in the streets who may be looking for an opportunity to take advantage of your mistakes...

“Surprised!”

At first glance when I arrived at the hotel was get me out of here! The lobby area was what turned me off at first, it looked very shabby! But I was plesantly surprised when I viewed the room while it is not a four star hotel, it was a good place to stay while waiting for our flight to the USA. The staff was pleasant and helpful. My recommendation would be that to re-do the lobby area!!!!!! It is a turnoff when first entering the hotel. Thank you.

“Nice and close to airport”

The hotel is very close to the water=Mediterranean. Fiumincio is a resort town that has seen better days. The main reason to stay at the hotel is because it is close to the airport,. My room was fine, with a comfortable bed, very clean bathroom and a TV. The hotel offers a shuttle for 6 euros one-way. Walking along the water is pleasant and there are a few restaurants, convenience-type store and a gelateria.

Area recommendations
Fiumicino used to be part of Rome, now it is referred to as a commune. My overall impression of the place is that it used to be a popular retreat from city heat. It doesn't look like the Riviera in the movies.

“Need real Nutella”

Reasonable Best Western. Thought it was closer to airport, but 10-15 minute commute wasn't bad. Is only a block from the Med, but local beach is only average. Room clean and comfortable and good value for the money. Nice free breakfast buffet but need real Nutella instead of a knock-off. Shuttle to airport, but might as well take a taxi since shuttel isn't free.

“Rome, Italy & the Beach too.”

About 5Km to the airport and 100meters to the beach. Great reception by Vincenzo at the front desk. Quiet neighborhood close to restaurants and the beach. No car needed. Shuttle gets you to your flight for only 6 euros per person, on time. All necessary amenities included. Good hot showers, room fridge, firm mattress, TV, A/C, big towels.

Getting there
Shuttle runs from the Airport to the hotel. Ask for the hotel shuttle van area when you arrive., or call the hotel for advice.

“Good airport hotel”

We flew in from Sicily around 2pm and needed a place to stay overnight for an early morning flight to the States. We chose the Best Western--- a 15 minute cab ride and located one short block from the beach. The hotel was fine. It was great having free internet, and even though the shower was small, it was larger than the one in Sicily! The best part though, was the beach. Luckily, it was a beautiful day, so we walked to the beach and sat at the quaint little beach bar, sipping cheap wine, listening to Reggae music and enjoying our last day in Italy. The area is not upper-class, but one where locals hang out. We asked the front desk for a restaurant recommendation and decided on GastOne, which was the closest one to the hotel. I ordered their sea bass with eggplant and pesto, which came surrounded with freshly fried thin potato chips. I have to say that this dish was the best fish I had in our 10 days in Rome and Sicily! We had been trying tiramisu wherever we could and were so disappointed that it wasn't on the dessert list. However, when we asked the waiter about dessert, he said not to follow the menu, as the desserts change daily. And guess what! They had tiramisu! I felt it was the best one of the trip. It was a fantastic meal and a great way to end our trip. If you're OK with a local, 2 or 3 star area, this is a nice spot. You'll need to overlook the trash on the streets, but the beach appeared clean. If you want something closer to the airport, try the Hilton.

Area recommendations
I would recommend going to the beach, where you'll find beach volleyball and rental chairs, as well as the Zenith bar. Wine and beer come on tap. The wine was cheap but refreshing and they gave us olives, nuts, chips and pieces of pizza for no extra charge. ( We were there close to closing time.) We drove by many restaurants on our way from the airport to the hotel. There are also a number of them in walking distance. The hotel has a bar for drinks and coffees as well as a little courtyard. Breakfast was the usual spread, nothing special, but not bad. Hotels in Rome and the area are expensive, so I was happy to get a good price through Expedia for this one (89E for a double room). It was clean and comfortable, and a good value, in a relative sense. We just took a cab from the airport because the shuttle doesn't run in mid-day. Even though the meter said 16.30, he charged us 20E, the same as the flat rate the hotel has set up with another company. It wasn't worth arguing about, as he quickly jumped in his cab and took off before I could check the change. We scheduled the shuttle to take us to the airport in the morning for 6E each (2 of us), and that worked out fine. No complaints.
Dining
We ate at Ristorante GastOne a Mare, across from the beach. I highly recommend it. Be forewarned, we went at 8:30pm and were the first people there. Here's the website: http://www.ristorantegastoneamare.com.

“Precious facility-hard mattress”

Walking in there was a calm cool breeze, pleasant reception area and most staff could speak English. Everyone did a great job making you feel welcome. No wifi, but don't spend time on the computer enjoy the sights. Wish I had longer to stay.

Area recommendations
Drive the cost line through the mountains to Genova and the next day go to Siena or Florence. You can download apps to your smart phone that help with tours of each area.

“Until the seaside area is cleaned up, don't go here.”

We booked this hotel to be near the airport, but since we were spending two nights, we wanted something that had other activities nearby. This hotel advertised local shopping and proximity to the beach. Plus, it was a Best Western. Unfortunately, we knew we had made a bad choice when we checked into our room, after traveling all day, only to hear neighborhood dogs barking. We closed the window to shut out the noise and called the front desk about the air-conditioning only to find it had not been turned on for the season, yet; but, they did offer to let us move to another room. We could still hear the dogs, but at least the room was bigger. The description of the hotel says it was renovated recently. But, whatever was done, wasn't enough. The reception area is small and messy. We thought we would shop the next day only to find there was a sizable fee for transport. As for the beach, it is only a block away and there is a beautiful walk way along it. Too bad the beach is full of trash, bums, and abandoned boats. There were several good things about the hotel - the staff did try to make us happy and there is a great little family-owned restaurant around the corner. Other than that, there aren't any positives about the hotel. The area is scary. There is nothing close by, except the the neglected beach, and the hotel is tacky. This was supposed to be a 3-star hotel, so we weren't expecting a palace, but this was definitely disappointing and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Area recommendations
I'm not sure Fuimicino has much to offer the traveler, except the airport; so, you might as well stay close to the airport, rather than in the town.
