We stayed at the Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese for four nights in June 2014. Upon arrival, we were quickly and very politely greeted by hotel staff. The doorman took our bags for us immediately, and the overall check-in process was fast and smooth. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the housekeeping staff checked on us daily to ask if everything was up to par. Our room overlooked Via Lombardia but it is a very quiet street so there was no noise to complain of. The hotel itself was also very quiet so no trouble sleeping at night. Breakfast was not included in our package but much to our pleasant surprise, there was a table set up outside the breakfast dining room with a complimentary "breakfast on the go" -- fresh croissants and fruit, along with little to-go bags -- which we took advantage of each day. The location of the hotel is in a very nice area of Rome. It is just a short block or two off of Via Veneto and only about a 5 or 10 minute walk to the Spanish Steps. It is also about a 5-minute walk from Villa Borghese.
Set at the end of a quiet street 200 metres from Via Veneto's fashionable restaurants and shops, this converted 1890 palazzo …More
I stayed at the bologna mercure hotel august 2014. 5 min walk to the metro station & only a 5 stops to colosseum . Hotel is clean & staff are efficient I would stay again . I didn't have breakfast at the hotel I stopped off at a lovely bakery each morning . Also would highly recommended the Chinese restaurant located about 2min from the hotel was the best Chinese food I've ever had !!!

Booked as a one night stopover to catch a plane the next morning, the 'IBIS' was a very pleasant surprise!
Marvellous multilingual staff, basic but comfortable room, professionalism in the hotel trade apparent!
Tips: don't buy a drink in the bar unless you want to eat in that part - you can't take your drink through into the cafe/restaurant (which is literally 5 yards across the open plan floor!). We ate in the bar part from a smaller menu, and it was ideal.

"Extremely worth the money and easily our best stay"
The price of the hotel beats all others in comparison. The metro is close (3 blocks) and extremely easy to get around with local transport. The quiet and extremely modern and clean room make this a must stay if your looking for a decently priced room with great amenities. The only downside is that it is further away. The room and the amenities make up for everything and this is truly a highly recommended hotel. Large and clean room with a good view. They have an exercise gym and two elevators. Free water and a refrigerator is a big plus. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to ROME. Easily the best hotel we stayed in with our 18 day visit of Europe.

We had spotted this hotel on a previous trip to Rome as it served our two main requirments of being in the city and also having an outdoor pool.
The location is ideal as you can see from the photos of the Colosseum, the metro "B" line also has a stop opposite the Colosseum and is only two stops down from the Termini Station (be warned the Colloseo metro station does not have any escalators so you would have to carry suitcases up the stairs).
There are some resturants around the Colosseum area and the hotels location ensures that many locations are not too far of a walk away.
If you are planning to visit St Peters Basilica probably best to get the metro to Termini and then onto the "A" line you can get tickets for up to a hours travelling at the metro stations for 1.5 Euros.
Our room was at the rear of the hotel so cannot comment on street noise we did hears sirens on a couple of occasions but that is to be expected staying in a city.
Hotel staff very helpful and their English was much better than my Italian we were also able to extend our checkout time by a couple of hours which was ideal.
This is the third time we have visited Rome and this has been our favourite hotel.
