Explore concepts of craftsmanship at the Röhsska Museum for Design, Fashion and Decorative Arts. Browse through chronicles of the design trends and fads of the 20th century and enjoy how these contrast with the formal styles from the 18th century. See a Far East exhibit that showcases Chinese crafts and the staggering levels of skill achieved with limited technologies more than 1,000 years ago.

The Röhsska Museum was opened in 1916 and has increased its collection to more than 50,000 textile, glass, ceramic and fashion items. Many regions and eras are represented in the same space, which helps to show advances in technologies and differences in style.

Find the entrance to the museum marked by two stunning marble lions dating back to the Ming Dynasty. Venture to the first floor and browse rooms dedicated to local craftsmanship, clothing and furniture. With funky and sleek designs that bring back memories of trends of the 20th century, you’ll get some insight into why Swedish furniture designers are considered some of the world’s most skilled designers.Highlights include colourful furniture from the 1970s and counter-cultural slogans on T-shirts from the 1980s.
