Great location with commanding view of the area, giving a serenity feeling. Buildings of old style, roomy. Bathrooms are of old style and cramped, hard to obtain the right mix of hot and cold water. TV use very complicated and counterintuitive. Restaurant on site OK in quality of food, great ambiance.

Wow...a stunning place!
Absolutely beautiful place! You need a car, but once you're there you might not want to leave. Quietly elegant, beautifully maintained old country hotel. We had a fabulous dinner, and the breakfast was excellent. Huge room, great views, very professional and courteous staff. A bit pricey, but very much worth it.

Exceptional place. Sadly, we were not able to stay there because the room's air conditioning system broke down. While they attempted to fix the A/C unit, we were invited to have dinner at the hotel by Michele, the property manager. The food was good (not great) and limited in terms of menu choices. The Manager - Michele was truly exceptional in his efforts to pacify the situation. Irrespective of the inconvenience experienced, the property is exceptional and I would not hesitate one moment to stay there!

Very attentive arrival. Excellent service with bags to room. Had 8pm dinner reservation - seated at 8.45pm - could have done with an additional staff member for better service and less stressed/short sounding waiter. Overall a very relaxing stay.

It's always a shame to me when a BEAUTIFUL property and a peaceful environment just isn't matched by service! As an expert on customer experience, I like to say that it is when an organization goes beyond the customers' EXPECTATIONS, they can create a great EXPERIENCE. Unfortunately, Masseria Agnello doesn't quite get it. Awesome setting in the hills near Agrigenta but other than Andrea who does a great job in the restaurant, we never knew any of the other team members' names--remember, there are only 10 rooms here. Staff was loud at night and another event at the hotel made the guests feel like 2nd class citizens. Wi-fi is spotty if you have to do any work. Good food and wine might make up the difference!

Beautiful hotel. But certain details needed. They don’t change the towels every day the restaurant is 5 stars but the chef is not amicable. If you go to The Valley of the temples it’s an excelente choice.

Elegant country estate near Valley of the Temples
Masseria Agnello exceeded expectations, and our expectations were high. It's a beautiful collection of stone buildings in a bucolic setting close to Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples. Staff were very welcoming. The food was great, and the room was well-appointed and beautifully kept. Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel with great views and good food
Really lovely place to stay, 20 minutes from Valley of the Temples. Newly renovated to a high standard with lovely public spaces, very nice bedroom and lovely bathroom, we had a really nice stay. One point to note is that our satnav guided us up a very nasty road to the property. The proper (and much easier) road to the property is closer to Realmonte.

Great location (out of town in the countryside). The service was great, we had breakfast lunch and dinner. The food was superb and there was a very nice swimming pool. Every member of staff was helpful and polite. We had a great stay and would have no hesitation in returning.

Picture book masseria
After driving from Catania with a stop in Piazza Armerina and the Villa Romana del Casale arriving at the Massariea Agnello was like entering into the gates of paradise. The property is spectacular, the service is excellent and the rooms are luxurious. After checking in, we asked to have a bottle of wine and light food delivered to the room. Claudio arrived with a chilled bottle, bread, cheeses, crackers, jams. In addition to the food and wine, Claudio provided a history of the property, the surrounding area and suggestions for local site seeing ideas including the Valley of the Temples (a must see). We had dinner at the massarie (with Claudio as waiter) which I would highly recommend. Only regret is that we only stayed for one night.

We booked this hotel, and received a written confirmation a full month in advance of our stay, as a special treat to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. Two days prior to our arrival we received an e-mail telling us our reservation could not be honored for one of the two nights booked. We were told there was "an online reservation problem" and as a result they were overbooked. We later learned there was a wedding party at the hotel and we, along were others, were bumped to apparently accommodate additional rooms requested by the wedding party at the last minute. This is no way to treat guests and expect return bookings.

A must in south west Sicily
Great place to stay, a short drive from the stunning cliffs of Scala dei Turchi and the wilderness of the Oasi of Torre Salsa. If you are planning to visit the temple valley i Agrigento this is a the place to pick: a relaxing country house: it includes a lovely pool and great home cooking for dinner.

Perfect Country Elegance
We had spent the day touring the Valley of the Temples and were ready for rest and relaxation. Within a short drive we found ourselves at this tranquil retreat. From the moment we arrived all was meticulously arranged yet warm and welcoming. The common spaces we inviting and luxurious. We wanted to sit in them all (and we did) each with its own delightful offering of a view, comfort and ambience. Our rooms were heavenly. The beds so wonderful we had a hard time getting up not wanting to leave it. One of my favorite things in the world is a great shower - I think the shower we had rates as one of the top 3 I've ever had. Their hospitality exceeded the comfort - a miraculous feat. Each and every person we met was eager to exceed our expectations - if you want unparalleled service this is your place. The location is a hidden gem - the renovations to this rustic farmhouse are exquisite and perfectly compliment the surroundings. My recommendation is if you are in Sicily treat yourself to this perfect country-elgant hotel. Its really a five star experience. If you're not planning a visit Sicily, think about changing your plans.

A Masseria worth looking for
Masseria Agnello was one of the nicest places we stayed at during a recent trip to Sicily. As other reviewers have said, it is a newly opened property, open only since June 1, 2015. We were told that the owners have been renovating an old farmhouse and other buildings for at least the past decade, and they put a tremendous effort into it. It is modern, with large rooms and new fixtures, perched on a hill with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. There is a common room and dining room on the ground floor and a wine bar across the courtyard. Our upstairs room was quite spacious and we had an outdoor terrace to ourselves to share a glass of wine in the afternoons. They also served meals that were cooked in a gourmet kitchen on site, and the food was outstanding. Apparently adherents of the slow-food movement, much effort was put into serving locally-sourced and individually prepared meals. They also had an excellent wine selection, and we tasted olive oil and honey produced on their farm. It was difficult to find, all GPS and online maps giving incorrect information, but a phone call was all it took to put us on the right track. If you are going, these GPS coordinates for the turn-off from the main road may be helpful: N 37.32705, E 013.46103. From here follow the signs to the top of the hill and turn left, follow the road to the property on the right.

The hotel was superb in every way
Beautiful setting with the garden and a relaxing villa . drinks ,dinner and breakfast all of a simple but high standard. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful . The stay was lovely but it needs better signage to find it as we came from the west and turned right into Realmonte before the sign and got lost . The entrance is through a beautifully designed and cared for garden-exotic colourful and textured--a 10 year development in itself. The buildings are of stone generous in proportion and perfect-courtyards interspersed with stone buildings, surrendered by the local countryside. There are spacious lounges with art books and curiosities from the past and present There is a pool--it was autumn--a little too cool to use and fruit orchards surround Breakfast was fabulous - a 7pm free drinks and snack was well received and appreciated Loved the whole experience

We loved the Masseria. It was isolated from Agrigento but we expected this. Staff was extremely helpful and we had dinner there also which was excellent. Would highly recommend this property as five star as long as you have a car to get around the area.

Sicilian Paradise
The Masseria Agnello in Realmonte is breathtaking-- the pictures online don’t even do the property justice. The renovations fit right in perfectly with the much older properties situated in the landscape surrounding the property. The hotel has a beautiful terrace where aperitivo happens each evening at 7 o’clock. There is also varying dinner specials offered each night should you choose to stay in for your meal. The food is sourced from the Masseria Agnello farm and is definitely some of the best food I’ve ever tasted; the hotel even makes its own olive oil. I’ve never experienced a more genuinely kind and helpful staff. From complimentary breakfast each morning with your choice of made-to-order coffee to random questions and needs throughout the day, the staff is always available to quickly fulfill your requests. Alex went above and beyond throughout our stay and made us a fantastic restaurant reservation for our last evening. At the time of our stay, other guests ranged from couples to families, but it’s so quiet and serene it almost feels like you’re at a private accommodation. Reading through the entries in the guest book proved that others also had overwhelmingly positive experiences at the hotel. We were not the only ones to extend our stay just to take a few more magnificent vistas. Highly recommended!

Fabulous boutique hotel close to Agrigento temples
We were SO lucky to chance upon this place just days after it opened; we suspect it will be hard to book once its fame spreads. This converted farmhouse and purpose-built accommodation in the grounds is set on an elevated position surrounded by its own farmland, with sweeping views down to the Mediterranean. The Masseria is set within a beautifully-designed mature garden with a wide variety of plants. While the property presents itself as in the 'agricultural tourism' market, the quality of design, decoration, furnishing and finish of both rooms and public areas put it firmly in the luxury boutique hotel category. There is a small swimming pool/sun terrace and a larger one nearing completion. The property belongs to two local lawyers who were in residence with their families during our stay and we were made to feel very much as if we were honoured house guests rather than just customers. The service we received during our two-night stay was excellent throughout, with genuine friendliness and a real desire to ensure every detail was looked after. Breakfast was a very good buffet with hot options cooked to order. An evening meal was available by arrangement with the hotel and culminated in coffee served on the candlelit terrace. It was about a fifteen minute drive to the Valley of the Temples at Agrigento, which is a huge and fascinating site with no less than six Parthenon-scale Greek temples. Best of all, however, was returning to this little oasis!
