“An average hotel”

“Fabulous location”

The location of this hotel was fantastic - close to the centre of town and right on the lake. The rooms were a good size. We had a lakeview and it was magnificent. The bed was a little tired. The only difficulty I had was that wifi access was limited to the lobby area and free wifi access was very limited.

Area recommendations

The walks around the lake are magnificent. There are plenty of great places to eat in town. It's such a small place that you can't go wrong no matter where you are staying.

“Unbeatable location and exceptional customer service”

Location was great - on the lake, one minute's walk to the centre of town and all the tour companies we used picked up and returned us to the hotel door. The service provided by hotel staff was also outstanding - recommendations and suggestions for tour companies, eateries and shopping. The tag system for storing ski equipment worked very well too and meant that our gear remained secure and undamaged but was accessible 7.00 am till 11.00 pm.

Area recommendations

In Queenstown - the streets and lanes in the town centre, the lake and the wharf area; some lovely art/craft shops with high quality woodware, ceramics, jewellery and paintings/pictures with a Kiwi flavour but for very reasonable prices. Out of Queenstown - Skippers Canyon 4WD and jetboat trip enabled us to learn a lot about the early history of the area and experience some amazing scenery.

“Sooooo impressed”

Three short but very happy days were spent in Queenstown and we found the Novatel Lakeside & it's staff to be friendly, accommodating, honest & would not hesitate to stay there any time in the future. Meals were 'to die for' & the beds did not leave us with backpain for the next days adventures. Thank you.

“Great location!”

Loved the Novotel QT - it was convenient, clean, compact and provided all the amenities we needed for a 3 night stay. The extra blankets provided were quite tattered and should be replaced. Also, the travel desk was not too informed on tours available and ended up sending me to the tour 45 minutes early at 6:45 a.m. instead of 7:30 a.m! Could have used the extra sleep. Other than that all the staff was great, very helpful and accommodating. Signed up for an A Club Card because of them.

“Good location”

Hotel location was perfect as it's walking distance to everything. If you have a hired car, you will need to pay for valet parking (NZ$20) or park at the Wilson parking which is 3 minutes walk away (you can purchase a ticket from the Hotel which allows you multiple entries within 24 hours for NZ$10). Alternatively, you there is free street parking in front of the hotel after 6pm to 8am. You need to ensure that you have a ticket after 8am or you wil get a parking fine (the inspectors are quite vigilant!) - Street parking is NZ$2 for 1 hour. Limite Wifi access at the lobby (20 minutes free). Paid wifi is available in the rooms but expensive. There are also two computers at the lobby that allows guests to use the for free (limited to 20 minutes per user/ per time).

“Good”

The hotel was comfortable and the staff were professional. The only down sides were that the parking was expensive and that our shower curtain didn't stop water from going onto the floor. It had a superb location, it's near everything.

“Pleased”

Location is excellent. Staff is professional. Event concierge was very helpful. Rooms are adequate. Bit noisy due to the room we were given. Free street parking between 6p-8a. Free wifi has a relatively short daily limit. Pricing of LAN connection in room is cheaper than wifi.

Sights: gondola, Glenorchy, Arrowtown, Kawarau Bridge. Eats: Joe's Garage (breakfast), Fishbone (dinner), Patagonia Chocolates.
