“Gem of a hotel in Prague”
Excellent hotel in a good location. Only 3 tram stops from the centre of Prague. Clean, very friendly and decent breakfast. Highly recommended!
“Good hotel that met all our needs”
Our two-night stay in the Hotel Columbo was good overall. The check-in was easy, the receptionist was friendly and helpful, the room was large and clean, and the hotel wasn't far from the city centre. It was a 15-minute walk up a main street out of the main train station, and we found out afterwards that there are regular trams going by the hotel direct to the city centre that we could have taken. The breakfast was good and offered a good selection of food. Only downsides are the fact that there is no elevator, the wifi only worked in the reception area (but it was free), and there was a slight musty odour to the room. I'd recommend this again for someone who can't afford to stay in the city centre.
“a hotel that refuses to help guests”
I was incredibly disappointed by how little the hotel staff knew about traveling from the hotel to downtown Prague. In addition to not knowing very much, they actually refused to look up any details on the tram lines to downtown! I don't think I've ever come across a hotel staff member that actively refused to help for no discernible reason! In addition to that, the rooms weren't cleaned, and the hotel falsely claimed that credit cards were accepted on Expedia but demanded cash at checkout. Although this hotel is inexpensive, it is NOT worth the rude service, false advertising, and lack of housekeeping services.
