For a real education about Perth and the culture of this part of Australia, head for the Perth Cultural Centre just north from the city’s train station. From here you can visit the Art Gallery of Western Australia with its vivid Aboriginal art works, and then enjoy a great night out around Northbridge.
If you want to venture a little further, go out to the suburbs of Subiaco and Cottlesloe. You can take a dip in the waters at Cottlesloe Beach before trailing the coast round to Hillarys Boat Harbour for fun with the family. Or to learn about the aquatic life of the region, head for the Aquarium of Western Australia.
In the region surrounding Perth, you’ll find many wineries and fruit farms as well as old mining towns and wildlife areas to discover and explore. Rent a car to find your own way round, or take a ferry trip to Fremantle and its historic attractions.
