Really nice room, very clean with plenty of tea and coffee - good television . Shower really good in bathroom. Stayed two nights wanted to leave early one morning for work and made me some sausage sandwiches ready. "Well Above Average for the Business Traveller"
I used to stay at this Hotel on a regular (often fortnightly) basis a few years ago as it offered well above average accommodation. I liked its location, which gave a balanced mix of easy access with rural unspoilt views, which is a rare treat for anybody who spends weeks driving up and down the Motorway networks. But what I especially liked was the staff, as they are the entire backbone of this hotel and a credit to its Management, I can't say that i've ever had one negative experience, either previously or indeed during my recent stay, all of the staff are welcoming and friendly and look genuinely happy to welcome you and to check you in, without the fake smiles often painted on at the reception desks of the larger chains. So it was good to make a return to my 'home from home' as I make a return to the life of business travel, and I was happy to see that nothing had changed, and coincidentally i'd even been given my 'old' room back, where I had enjoyed many a happy stay previously. The hotel is generally reasonably peaceful, and even more so if you get an end of corridor room like mine, but in most rooms in the hotel its quiet enough to catch up on paperwork and emails. The rooms are well above a Premier Inn standard, and even the cheaper 'classic' ones are comfortable, spacious, well maintained and almost clinically clean, in fact all of the hotel is clean and comfortable. Wifi is available free of charge (The larger chains can learn a lot from this)

"A quaint 17th century pub in Askham"
We enjoyed our overnight stay in the cozy comfort of this family run pub which had lots of old world charm. Our hosts, John and Eileen, gave us a very warm welcome. We were provided with a delicious evening meal beside the open fireplace before heading off for a very good night's sleep.

"Comfortable stay in a quality hotel."
From the moment we arrived until the time we left the staff gave 100% effort to making our stay as comfortable and friendly as possible. They were consummate professionals who gave excellent service without being obtrusive. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, with all the facilities we required. The food was wonderful, well presented and cooked to perfection. The breakfast buffet was a good mix of healthy options as well as pastries and cereal. The lounges were comfortable with welcoming open fires...

"Cozy and sweet!"
This is not what I expected! It's better! We are from the US, and I was getting married in Scotland to a UK native the day after our stay. We wanted to stay in the Lake District overnight to see the sights. We found the hotel which FYI the name of the place is painted on a little rock.. so it's easy to miss. It was much more cozy than we expected. I was just thinking it was a regular hotel.. nothing fancy. We stayed in the room that had a kitchen, table for six and three beds. (There were three adults and one child in our party.) There was bread, cereal, tea, coffee, milk, juice, jam, croissants, sugar, butter all waiting for us in the room. The bathroom had a hair straightner, hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner. FREE WIFI! (Being from out of the county this was important!) THere was a bookshelf with books and games. There was also a TV..We played cards, ate cheese, bread and had wine that night. Good times! We woke and got ready for our wedding then set off. The lady who owns/runs the place was very sweet. The room is a great stay for an awesome rate.
