“great customer care!”
Super helpful concierge and desk staff always willing to answer questions and book excursions. Room was quite large and clean with a fridge to chill wine and a balcony to enjoy it!
“Great location. Friendly, helpful staff.”
Great location. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay there again. Perfect for price.
“This was an excellent deal, great location, staff were great, it needs a facelilft- but good”
I stayed at this hotel, knowing before I went that it needed painting and upkeep. I booked due to the price, the location and good reviews of the staff. It is exactly what I expected. The location for the price was perfect. Yes, the carpets needed replaced, the curtains and furniture could use an overhaul, but the location, the comfort, the convenience, the nice staff and convenience was all up to par. I didn't eat the breakfast (petit dejeuner) there as reviews mentioned it was overpriced. plenty of cafes next to the hotel, and starbucks across the street and Mcdonalds McCafee down the street (I know it's Paris, but I'm just sayin'.) I would stay here again, loved the location, and all the hotel offered for the price. I wouldn't stay here if it was a honeymoon, but camping Ritz style was good for me. No expectations, no dissapointments. Nice Staff, Nice hotel, Great Location.
“.”
Good location, but room and bathroom need maintenance, old forniture and carpets.
“A Real Find in Paris”
The Normandy Hotel was my new home away from home. Location was the best in Paris, in my opinion. Room was quiet, I requested a special room via email and was accorded said request. Great bathroom, lots of hot water, VERY clean linens every day, a room to totally relax in away from home. BIG and plentiful breakfast buffet. So the hotel was old! So what! Complaining about a spot on the rug or paint peeling is petty considering what this hotel had to offer. I will return again through an air/hotel package deal. Close to everything the traveler neede to do and see in Paris: shops, restaurants, Metro, bus lines, museum..... A real find, my first time there, but not the last.
“19th C Paris”
I give the Normandy a "4" overall rating--but would stress that this hotel does not have all the amenities that many travellers expect (no coffee service in the room, no breakfast until 7:00, etc, and few English speakers). My first thought, after almost 24 hours of travel, was that I hated the hotel--the room seemed awfully small , needed some repainting, and I could not easilly use the shower. But, I changed my mind and found the hotel to be quite nice. Our room was spotless, breakfast was an abundent buffet in a pleasant room. Most of the staff were helpful and courteous. And the location couldn't be beat--one block from the Louvre--a real bargain!
“Worst "4" Star hotel I have ever stayed in”
Hotel location is fabulous, why they do not spend resources and money to upgrade and to hire competent staff, I have no idea????? I would never stay at this hotel again. Carpets were horrendous, I would not walk in my room without my flipflops on. Tiles in lobby were cracked and loose.
“Better than euro Disney”
The combination of priceband location in Paris makes this hotel worth dealing with. Single rooms are tiny, average comfort and spotty Internet access. The staff was very helpful and the location is outstanding, though some guests think euro disney is better than the louvre and shopping.
“Terrible room standard”
Complete lack of maintance, great location
“Unimpressed”
I knew this hotel was overrated at 4 stars from other travelers' reviews, but while I can deal with "tired" I cannot deal with grime. The first room we were shown was #125 (if you are given this room, don't bother even going to it and immediately ask for another). There is no elevator (you lug your own bag up the stairs to the first floor.) The carpet on the stairs is ripped and stained. The bathroom in #125 was not made up - there were towels on the floor, used shampoo etc. The carpet is stained, there are dirty black streaks on the walls. The "view" is of a filthy glass skylight half a storey below and brick walls. The room is permanently in shadow. The room safe had the batteries ripped out. When we asked for another room the front desk seemed unsurprised that we found the room unacceptable. We were shown to the front of the hotel where there were not one but two elevators. The room had a pleasant rooftop view over Rue du St Honore and while the paint on the ceiling was peeling a little ("tired") the bathroom was very clean and there was plenty of closet space and a working room safe. Seemed like a different hotel. Excellent location though - so go prepared to do battle with hotel management and it could turn out OK if they have other rooms available.
