they do their best within their limitations. There is a lot of scope for improvement, management, coordination of all kind.
The place is fully vegetarian, I asked for three days can I not have an egg for breakfast; than I found out there is not a single egg on the premises. However you book including breakfast, but nothing is mentioned about this.
The reality of a country like Nepal however romantic it may appear from the outside is one of political instability, poverty and hard life for most of the people. The infrastructure is under development a lot of streets are still mud and when it rains the place turns dark and muddy and everyone disappears, the buses included. Within an environment like that you cannot expect the same hotel services as in a developed country I suppose. So comparatively to its environment it is doing ok and its a 3 for the effort from me, but do not even start to compare it to a hotel in the far east or west
I enjoyed my stay at Alliance during the 8 days that I was in Kathmandu. The staff was friendly and helpful. They offer pick up from the airport. Food at the restaurant was quite nice (though some options on the menu were unavailable), and it's in a generally convenient location. 10 min walk to Bouddha. Hot water is hit and miss, but that's just the way it is over there. The room is simple and clean. A major plus about the hotel is its (fairly) stable electricity and also wifi!! I'd stay there again.
Room looked OK. But bathroom too cramped. Toilet was not flushing well. Bathroom smelled very, very bad. They tried to"fix " it by spraying something!!!then told us the exhaust fan is not working!!!! Finally they gave another room which was half the size of original one. we've paid for bigger room. Eventually got a bigger room with smaller bed!!!this room bathroom smelled too but not as bad as the original one. The exhaust did not work!!!
It did not seem like they changed towels. Our hand towels looked greyer instead of white.
This was a very good hotel considering what you can find in Kathmandu. the hotel is working for some months and it's down side is that no one knows it even if you ask people a block away.
The hotel has very good accommodations and the staff is very friendly. It's very quiet and is at 3 mins from the Stupa.
Our room was spacious and modern. We were pleasantly surprised when we discovered our room had it's very own balcony and large flat screen tv. Also the room service was very reasonably priced compared to the other hotels we stayed at in Nepal. The doorman was amazing. He greet us with a big smile and helped us with our bags. When we were departing, the taxi booked for us by the front desk as trying to overcharge us. After about 3 tries, the doorman helped us find a better rate with another taxi, all the while carting our bags around from taxi to taxi.
The negatives were that the hotel staff barely spoke English, so ordering room service was a struggle. We ordered dinner and breakfast in the morning, and both meals took almost an hour. We only ordered basic items including a fried egg and toast with jam for breakfast.
