“Great and memorable Thanks Giving”

We spend 4 days here and it was great time for my family. This is a center of the shopping location and 10 min away from an old city. You can feel, that people are try to do their the best service. Room was clean and quite and as promised non smoke. I plan to get back to this hotel some day again.

“An excellent choice in Montreal”

We chose this hotel based on ratings on Trip Advisor as well as Frommer's and we were not disappointed. The hotel is centrally located and within easy walking distance to the VIA train station, the Metro, the Orchestre Symphonique du Montreal, and lots of good restaurants. The hotel is clean, elegant and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rates were good, especially considering breakfast was included and there was a full (small) kitchen in our room. Very convenient. We would go back to the Hotel Square Phillips.

Getting around

The Metro underground system was easy to manuever and directions were clear. With a three day Metro (STM) pass you can ride as often as you like and it even includes the super convenient Airport Bus (747) that runs every 20 minutes every day, picking up at numerous stops downtown and making the trip to Montreal Trudeau airport in about 35 minutes.

“Large rooms, good location”

The hotel rooms were not super fancy, but it was nice and clean and just what we needed for our girl's trip to Montreal in Sept. 2011. The city is huge, so it is hard to say if this was the best location, would just depend on what you want to see. However, the hotel is very close to two Metro stations, so even if where you want to go is not in walking distance, the Metro is. (And Montreal's Metro is one of the best, most convenient, most user friendly subway systems I have ever used!).

“Great little non-chain hotel!”

This was a fantastic hotel, each room has kitchen which comes in handy if you are staying for a few extra days. The rooms and architecture have a ton of style and really add to the experience. Service was excellent and comprehensive. Location is awesome!

“Le Square Phillips Hotel”

It's a nice hotel in a great location. Everything is in walking distance. The staffs were friendly and helpful. The room is quite comfortable with a nice layout. The hotel is well kept and well managed. It has good facilities including laundry. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, and dishes. The breakfast was OK, perhaps a little understaffed on busy days. The parking is quite expensive.

“Nice hotel but not the best area.”

For example, there was no good restaurant within walking distance although an Italian place did a good room service menu. I suspect that a more attractive area would mean higher prices & this hotel was value for money. You get what you pay for & the other hotels I saw in nicer areas were, I'm sure, much more expensive.

“Extremely satisfying stay, excellent staff”

We stayed at Square Phillips hotel for my wife's b-day weekend at the suggestion of a good friend who regularly attends the F-1 race in Montreal every year. The hotel was conveniently located and extremely clean. The staff and management was very engaging and courteous, and we were very pleased with the personal attention of the concierge and hotel manager. This was our first visit to Montreal, and we were extremely impressed with how progressive and tourist friendly the city was. We can't wait to go back.

Area recommendations

The Old Town is a must see. I would also recommend a bus tour, and then exploring on your own by bike. The city is so well thought out and easy to navigate, it's truly remarkable. Don't forget to bring your camera along as you'll want to capture all the images and beauty of this incredible city.

“Great location and nice touches”

Great location and value. Loved the roof top pool view of the surrounding lights. Little disappointed that the on-site shop wasn't open for snacks etc. Staff was wonderful and the room was comfortable.
