Suited us perfectly. Centrally situated. Staff most helpful and great to deal with. Kitchen to make tea/coffee was good. Only downside it is a joint bathroom and toilet, but is still most convenient as close to bedrooms.

Nice and central in methven clean nice room downsides were blue pub very noisy over the road live music went on until nearly midnight could do with more blankets on beds as gets chilly during night duvet was very thin

I thought this place was excellent value for money. It is in a great location right on the Main Street - walking distance to everything. Akthough our room was quite small and basic the bed was very comfortable ( and large) sheets were a crisp cotton and very clean. The kitchenette was well kitted out and having a living space and verandah was excellent although both were tired and the living space a little overstuffed with a mishmash of furniture . The decor was also a mishmash but pretty inoffensive. The bathroom was very clean . I would stay again and recommend to others. I have no comment on the food as we didn’t eat at the hotel.

This accommodation is more suited for Winter. We struck a very hot night and the room was very hot all night the window only opened 5inches approx for safety. there was no fans on offer so I went to the local hardware shop and brought one. The Bed was very hard as well.

The only thing i can really fault would be the curtains, they didnt completely cover the windows and having the bright lights out side didnt help otherwise great

A bit overpriced
Unfortunately this pub costs the same as an everyday standard motel, except there was no private bathroom. We booked 2 rooms, a single bed and a double bed, the price difference being $60 between them (and for the extra $60 we expected there to be a bathroom). It’s more of a backpackers than a hotel. Our options were limited due to the late notice of our trip but we probably wouldn’t stay again as can get a much bigger motel room for around the same price.

Property has been recently renovated after a fire and the rooms and bathrooms have been done beautifully and to a high standard. To make it even friendly for those on a l ski holiday (which we were along with the majority of the other guests staying at the time) a dedicated storage or drying room for skis and boots would be great to have. The shared kitchenette was great for breakfasts and preparing lunch each day, only thing I would suggest is increasing the size or number of refrigerators. Overall we loved our stay, great central location and rooms and l facilities are amazing value.

Liked the cleanliness and homely feel. Could be a few more utensiles in the kitchen like bigger bins, bread knife, more plates and cups. Our overall stay was very pleasant though.

Central but noisey!
Walls are paper-thin - can hear everything going on inside and outside. Staff are not very friendly and overcharge what you are quoted. Overpriced for what you get and did not get much sleep.

Hi Dayna, we are sorry to hear that. The Brown Pub is a building over hundred years old. We are proud of that and it has been first time someone has been complaining about the noise from the other rooms. It is hard to keep an eye on the other guests behavior especially if we don't have 24/7 reception. Thank you for your comment anyway. We have a great staff, I will check on that and ask them what happened and advise them maybe to smile more? :-) I am also sorry to hear about you were overcharged. Staff are told about the deals etc. Did you tell them? They maybe just made a mistake. If I could do anything for you let me please know. Have a nice day!

Quite noisy due to amount of guests and location over pub/by main road. Main corridor lights do not turn off and shine into bedrooms all night (through windows above doors). Good food service available for takeaway pub food etc. Fine if you're passing through for one night but not great for a longer stay.

Very handy central Methven position. Opposite the I site 30-40 mins drive the the slopes. Plenty of eating options a few mins walk away. Good value and friendly. Bathrooms and kitchenette reflect the good price.

Door locks
The door locks at this pub need upgrading so the doors don’t self lock when going to the bathroom in the night. One poor man was left in his underwear in the corridor in the middle of the night as he was locked out. No staff at that time of night to assist. Other rooms had continual knocking on doors all night with the same issue, these people were lucky enough to have a room mate unlock. Other than that, a great place to stay. Staff fantastic
