Perfect spot for a stopover before hitting Arthur’s pass from Dunedin. Plenty good eating options within walking distance. Good value for money, continental breakfast included too

Bar and restaurant not open, not stated when booking, blood on shower head, tv channels not working, high chair for toddlers dirty and broken. Access to viewing area when eating breakfast blocked with building materials. When feedback given to manager I was told that’s why the room is cheap. If I had of know this I would have booked somewhere else Definitely not recommended

Good Morning Steve, We apologize for the issues you experienced during your stay at the Methven Resort, as new management we value all feedback and are working hard to have the correct information regarding our facilities updated and loaded on all booking platforms and this is taking some time. We are currently renovating the restaurant area including painting, this is why the viewing area is blocked off as is it hazardous for young children. The bar is currently closed as we are required by law to be able to serve adequate food to patrons when drinking and as the kitchen is undergoing renovations we are unable to provide this. The TV is a smart TV and runs off the internet which is being upgraded to fibre in the coming weeks, this will hopefully eliminate the issue of slow wifi and TV channels not working. We apologize for not having the facilities open during your stay and for you to not be told when booking. We hope the current room rates reflect the services and facilities we are able to provide including the complimentary continental breakfast provided to all guests. Again, we apologise for the inconvenience caused by not having the facilities open during your stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. Rooms had everything we needed and were spotlessly clean. Great base for exploring the area. Includes a Continental Breakfast which was delicious and the Gentlemen that oversaw Breakfast was so friendly and lovely! Excellent value for money. We will definitely be back.

The room was clean and comfortable and on arrival we were told there was a complementary contennal breakfast included fruit .yogurt cereal. toast muffins and tea coffee unbelievable considering the price of accommodation The out door pool and spas are now gone Great value Thanks Wayne

Clean hotel, quick checkout. Would add a lot of value if the pool and restaurant were opened, but overall for the price it’s a great stay! Room was tidy, was a good size, had a little fridge etc. would definitely stay again.

Check in and check out was a breeze. For a place to sleep for the night, this had all you need. There wasn’t much in terms of other facilities, but for the price I’ve no complaints.

For labour day weekend they used to have a bar and dinner available at the resort. I know a lot of people commented why this wasn't available anymore like they used to have.

Very small rooms for the price ($280 a night). Pool was under repairs which we were only made aware of at check in. Room we were given was cold, damp and in the furthest possible part away from all facilities. Quite dated decor throughout but it did seem clean & tidy. We didn’t actually end up staying here as we found much better options for much cheaper nearby. Upon check in we were left underwhelmed by the hotel for the price we paid so discussed this with management who offered a $200 discount off our stay. We were insulted and dumbfounded as to why we weren’t offered a better rate in the first place so we left.

Simply said, the property seems to be in the process of being sold. While the room itself was perfectly clean, none of the advertised services - pool, spa, restaurant, kids' play area - were available to the public. The 'continental breakfast' consisted of a weird, massive fridge in the middle of a conference room with half a thing of milk in it along with a few weetbix on a side table. Even weirder, there was no reception woman at any time other than when I arrived. Check in consisted of her tossing me some keys and then advising 'due to the hotel situation' (no idea what this means) there would be no one manning the hotel for the majority of the time I was there. Total misrepresentation. Again, the room was fine and adequate but don't expect ANYTHING beyond that.

To be honest I was very aprehensive about staying here after reading all the recent negative reports. The new owners are clearly making an effort and this needs to be recognised. There is still a lot of work ot be done but our room was comfortable and clean with clean bedding and bathroom etc. Well done team keep up the improvements.

This place is very run down. Saw a staff member twice only during our two night stay. The lift looked as if it was never cleaned. The place advertises a Restaurant, Bar, Pool, Breakfast available. There was absolutely nothing and I don’t think there were any other guests. All very disappointing! They need to update their website so people know what is not available!

Fun time at The Methven Resort
We had a wonderful family reunion . The team made us very welcome . Suzie was outstanding. Harm and the wait staff were excellent. Nothing was a bother , they went out of their way to make us feel at home.
