“Recommended Hotel”

Hotel decor is superb. Parking, upon arrival, appears to be a nightmare, however, you park where you can, blocking in others and the staff then will move the car for you if necessary (you can leave your car key at reception). Difficult to find (Turn sharp right down a narrow road just before the western end of Corso Umberto). Excellent views of the sea - you're very high up. Pool was closed (went in early April. Opened the week after we left). Breakfast was adequate - nothing special.

“A classic case in Italian hotels”

Excellent location - Great swimming pool - Diligent and helpful staff - HOWEVER - Totally understaffed (2 people around) - Management aloof and not really caring (the name Basil Fawlty comes to mind) -

Excellent location but the hotel itself was very disappointing. It is classed as a 4* but having stayed in many hotels around the world it is more a 2/3*. We payed a lot of money to stay in cramped conditions, where bedding was not regularly changed and the breakfast was average. When we complained (politely!) about the very small room, cockroaches and the inaffective air conditioning we were very much made to feel like we were troubling them. After 3 hot, humid and noisy nights we complained again and were finally moved into a more satisfactory room. The "piano" bar that is advertised in the hotel was never open, towels for by the pool are not available until 11.30am and pool side snacks took 2 hours to arrive from the moment of ordering (no joke!). So, even though the location was excellent the hotel service was a total let down and did not reflect the rating or price. We had high expectations but were sadly let down.

“Truly awful - do not stay here”

The hotel is advertised as a four star hotel but the condition of the room was more akin to that of a one or two star hotel. The room we had was very small, dark and had a strong smell of damp. The bathroom was dirty and also very damp. The air conditioning unit must have been at least 20 years old and as such was very loud and did not cool the room effectively. The balcony in our room did not face the bay and the view of the sea (to the side) was obscured by three other balconies. There was a pipe dripping onto the balcony and as such made it extremely unpleasant to be on. There was no safe in the room and the hair dryer did not work properly. The hotel staff refused to give us an alternative room so we left early despite having paid for the saty in advance. Only good point was the location.
