“Comfortable and affordable stay right in the city”

Had a fantastic time, the room was excellent, more than we could have asked for. Staff were very attentive and extremely professional. The location is fantastic for getting everywhere as tram runs very close to the hotel.

“best base in Melbourne”

We arranged a family celebration at the Stamford and found the level of service of hotel staff quite exemplary. They really went the extra mile to accommodate us. I always stay at the Stamford when visiting Melbourne, convenient location, gorgeous well appointed rooms, & friendly staff. Although it is not the most inexpensive hotel in Melbourne, it represents good value for money & has a lovely range of services like airbus connections to the airport & a great pool & gym. Try it out, you wont be disappointed.

Area recommendations

St Kilda for Sunday markets, beach strolling, quirky shops and those fabulous cake shops in Acland Street. The Vic Markets in the city to pick up some great wine & cheese in your hotel room for a pleasant quiet night in when you tire of sightseeing. Richmond is accessible very easily by tram from the hotel for an unbelievably wide scope of dining choices & night time bars. You are there in 6 minutes by tram from the Stamford. And yes, it is touristy, yes real Melbourne Italians probably wouldn't be caught dead there, but you really can't beat Lygon Street in Carlton for delicious Italian meals. Just try & dodge the touts, smile politely and take the biz card but definitely walk the whole street before you decide on a restaurant. The deals get better as you walk along and you are a bit of a chump if you pay full price. Expect free garlic bread & wine or dessert or keep on walking - they are all keen for your dollar. All these suggestions are easily accessible by tram. Don't be tempted to skip the fare, some people got ejected from our tram when the plain clothes ticket inspectors got on.

“Quality as you would expect”

Possibly the most comfortable two nights sleep ever. Quality rooms and service, almost perfict stay let down by the mediocre staff levels on check out. 17 min check out is unexceptable in such an establishment. Stopped me from giving full marks.

“What you might expect for a hotel at this star rating”

What you should expect of a high end hotel. The whole experience was tainted somewhat by the rock hard bed and the fact that the LCD maid service monitor lit up the room like a space ship and we needed to close the room dividers to get some sleep.

Area recommendations

Anywhere in the city is fine, some place will have views of the bay or parks, or the docklands. This hotel is in a lane but is otherwise central.

“Best location”

The staff & the rooms were excellent.... If you had to fault something it would be that the housekeeping staff didn't replenish coffee, milk etc on a daily basis, had to ask for it. But overall excellent hotel & will stay again when i visit melb next.

Lygon St for restaurants & enough shops for before or after lunch or dinner to keep you happy.

“Nicely appointed and great location”

Overall pretty happy with this hotel. There was minor hiccup redeeming my Expedia voucher at check-in, but they sorted it out fairly quickly. Location is great- in the heart of it all. Our room was a little small but very comfortable. The room was beautifully decorated and didn't look 'tired' or run-down like some other premium hotels.

“Great value for money!”

Lovely spacious Studio suite. Great to have 2 tv's. Lounge was comfortable. Only drawback was no real view. Very quiet. Pool OK.

Area recommendations

Movida Next Door near Fed Square was great for Spanish Tapas. Il Baccarro had the most amazing dessert.
