“Not impressed”
Advertised as 4 star, most definitely not. Pictures are clearly of the refurbished rooms. Worn, dirty carpets, dodgy elevators and terrible "onsite parking". Our room was probably refurbed a few years ago so was ok, but we paid extra for the spa room which was just a tiny bath with jets. Certainly no spa. Curtains also were too short to cover the entire room, so fine if you like your neighbours looking into your room or don't wish to sleep in at all because of the morning light. Besides that the room was a decent size. Onsite parking was a joke, absolutely tiny and open to the public. Hope you have a small car like we did. One night we got back at 8pm and the car park was full, so we had to park a block away and walk to the hotel in another separate car park. No notice was given of this or apology from hotel staff and they still charge the same price for parking.
“Just OK”
The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. However, the guest rooms were in need of refurbishment (dingy paint, and the windows needed cleaning even on the inside). Blow dryers were not hot enough to dry my hair quickly. Wine and food prices in the bar were high even compared to other spots we visited in Melbourne. Overall this hotel met our needs, as we were there for the F1 and didn't spend much time in the room. Bed linens were clean and nice; towels could have been thicker. I guess I was looking for a Hyatt experience but got a Best Western one instead.
“Not impressed”
Could do with a bit of tarting up. !Sheets did not fit the bed so had trouble with bunching up and lying on mattress. Even though 15 floors up still could hear yelling in the street. -obviously not double glazed window. Bathroom tiny
“reasonable but nothing flash.”
Room was very compact and the bath room was too small and bath tub was too shallow. There was noise trouble with the first room and I asked to hotel to change my room. Duty manager's attitude was very nice and quick. The hotel is very close from Chinatown and easy to access to everywhere. However as a hotel, there is nothing very attractive. house keeping service is very poor like average business hotel. I could see some stains on the carpet and it made room look not well maintained. The location is good but I will stay somewhere else for next time.
“Average”
Stay was just OK..Staff are quite friendly and efficient but I stayed in the one bedroom deluxe spa (spa is a bathtub) and the floor was in need of a revamp. My room was a nice size but I didn't have a working TV or heater, I know these things are easily fixed but how hard is it to check this out it before the guest arrives? There was also some mega construction work going on so didn't get sleep for the entire second night. I think this affected the whole hotel. I know that wasn't the hotels fault but some communication of that would have been nice as I like sleeping and that's often what one goes to a hotel for. Wouldn't stay there again.
“Good but ask for a room away from the lifts”
I have stayed at the hotel before and like it - it's clean, reasonably priced, well located and the decor is quite OK. There was a huge BUT on this occasion, however. My room was right next door to the lifts and as they went up and down it sounded as if they were going to come right through the wall. The noise was distracting and annoying while watching a movie and it was difficult to get to sleep. Fortunately, once asleep, I rarely stir. But a light sleeper would have a problem. Bottom line - ask for a room that's not next door to the lift wells.
“Will stay again”
Hotel was everything I expected, very pleased with the room. Good value and located within walking distance Bourke St Mall and right around the corner from China town. Restaurant was very good. We were on level 16 noticed some of the other floors looked a bit more dated than ours
“great location to melb CBD and surrounding”
Excellent locaton, excellent front of house staff. the most comfortable bed and pillows. easy to find and orientate yourself, close to everything and public transport is only minutes away
“Not bad, but definitely not 4.5stars”
A nice enough hotel. Everything was adequate, just about - but nothing special either.
“Good value. Nice sized room with good view. Small bathroom a little tired.”
Stayed at Rydges Melbourne Hotel for 1 night while in town for the Fleetwood Mac concert on 1 December. Booked an Executive King Room on the 20th floor. Room was a very decent size. The king size bed was great and very comfortable with a pillow top mattress. LCD TV screen extended out from the wall and could be swivelled to suit. Good selection of TV channels including all the Fox Sports stations. Heated roof top pool was great for a pre-breakfast dip. Reception desk staff were friendly and helpful and provided a good restaurant tip and directions for exploring the city. Hotel is in a good location and within walking distance (15 minutes) to Rod Laver Arena and the MCG. Only negative was the bathroom which was quite cramped and in need of an update. Overall it was a very positive experience and I would stay there again and recommend it to friends.
