“One of the best hotels we've stayed in”

“briliant”

“More like a backpackers with the noise of parties”
What a dissapointment! we have stayed in Park Hyatts around the world and this one does not meed the grade. We were put in a room in the cathedral wing --where the rooms are pretty beaten up the toilet did not flush properly and there was no pressure in the showed--the room looked inward to the courtyard and opposite what we later discovered was a function room---we were assaulted by a not very good band through open doors all evening--despite calls to the front desk we were not moved and the noise kept up till 12...when we were finally asleep the entire party moved to the room opposite with thumping music screaming and shouting----the management eventually told them to leave and the party moved to into the corridor outside our room....for one hour at 2am...we would have had more sleep in a hostel. Poor, poor service from a 5 star hotel and it makes you worry about their security. Their service staff were not up to the job either for the rates they charge. Very very disappointing.
“First time at the Park Hyatt”
The Qantas flight there and back was great. Once we got to Flinders Street Station to get a taxi to the Park Hyatt, we were denied. I have had many problems / attitudes from Melbourne taxi drivers from every trip to Melbourne. They don't want to take you to the destination as it is a 'cheap' ride for them. I didn't think you could deny passengers the service, just like a bus driver should stop for you at a bus stop. So beware of the taxi drivers and their bad attitudes and of course their lack of service to the public. Park Hyatt staff are friendly and welcoming. Room was nice and clean. Bathroom was amazing - his and her basins. Wasn't so impressed with the bed - felt like two singles pushed together. Nevertheless it was clean and warm. Room was fairly spacious. To be expected in a five star. Make sure to put the extra lock on the front door - the cleaning lady came in to service our room in the evening, she didn't knock and started to force her way in but was very apologetic when I called out to her. Location of Park Hyatt was great - secluded and out of the way of the City. Overall, it was a nice stay, will do it again for longer than a weekend and next time go to the restaurant and utilise the spa treatments.
“Stylish in the city”
Very nice place to stay. Friendly service, great rooms. Decent gym and pool.
“not overly impressed”
We have stayed at many hotels in and around Melbourne, 4-5 star, and we were not overly impressed by the Park Hyatt, we requested a smoking room and were told upon arrival that this was not possible, if I knew this before hand I would not have booked. The view from our room was terrible considering it was a park view, more like a car park view, we were not informed that we would be charged for outside parking when we could have parked 30m away for nothing and upon arrival back at the hotel we felt like a swim and spa but the pool area was closed. The room was lovely and very well appointed.
“Very good hotel”
We have a good a hotel, nice flight .However, the shuttle transporter isn't very necessary because it is very easy to find cheaper transporter at the airport.
“Worth the expense!”
Your entry up the 100 metre Azalea lined driveway to the forecourt of the hotel, where you U turn to exit, is rather understated and unless you knew the hotel was there you could easily drive past without knowing it was there. The staff that greet you both in the forecourt and in the reception area of the luxurious, (yet unpretensious lobby), where both professional and welcoming. The Deluxe Room was more than I expected even for a five star hotel. The king size bed, walk in robes, marble tiled dual basin spa bathroom with separate toilet were clean and plush. I found the desk and office chair within the bedroom convenient and it fitted in well with the tastefully furnished decor. We both had a lovely relaxing massage in the Spa Treatment rooms which were located alongside the 50 metre swimming pool on the 5th floor. Try at least one dinner at there beautifully appointed restaurant. We had a champagne in the cocktail bar area before walking up a wide winding staircase to our table which overlooked the open kitchen and cocktail bar. The service was outstanding, the food exceptional and the soft romantic ambience appreciated along with the continuity of the understated elegance that ran throughout the hotel. It would be difficult to stay in this hotel on a budget but if you wish to splash out and live a little this hotel is for you.
“Park Hyatt Melbourne is a fabulous hotel.”
Very impressed. Great room and great location. We were able to stroll with our grand daughter in the nearby gardens, have an amazing breakfast in Treasury Place next door, walk down to the shops, drop into great little city cafes, make the short journey to Carlton for dinner and attend our grand daughters' swimming lessons at the city batths. Our room was always a delight to returnf to and to relax in. The configuration was fabulous and the room wonderfully spacious.
“One of Melbourne's best hotels”
This is a beautiful hotel and we enjoyed it immensely. The service was exceptionally good. The interior of the whole hotel is a great mix of contemporary and traditional; with the Radii bar and restaurant being quite extraordinary and I wouldn't recommended being too hungover when going down those stairs for breakfast - there can be a slight fun house/Escher effect! One thing that bothered me slightly was the loud music in the restaurant, bar, lobby areas, and there is only so much of that 80's Kenny G type music that one can stand. This might be fine for most, but I cannot stand loud background music in places where the surroundings are beautiful enough that some peace and quiet would be appreciated and make the whole atmosphere more relaxing. The only problem we had was not with the hotel, but with taxi drivers - the two drivers we had didn't seem to know where the hotel was, so perhaps google map it first and be prepared to advise drivers if you're using cabs to get there! Oh, and take time to go for lots of leisurely walks around the hotel area - Fitzroy Gardens is lovely. Walking into the city is also lovely, passed Parliament House, where there are often weddings and things happening around and about.
