“How hotels should be”

Funky room, great bathroom, bed (pillows too soft though). Loved the selection of nibbles provided. Good books, magazines. Shame I only spent a night there. Finally a widescreen hotel TV with the correct aspect ratio!!

“Very comfortable and convenient hotel”

We found this hotel to be very comfortable and convenient. The room was spacious with a well stocked kitchenette. We were lucky enough to have a small balcony with city views enhancing out stay. With a tram stop almost outside the front door it had easy access to the city as well as a number of good restaurants within easy walking distance, The staff were extremely helpful and cheerful. We would definitely stay here again.

“An okay stay”

Overall, the room was clean, the room curtains were great for blocking out the light, the bed was very comfortable and the location is superb, with the tram just outside the hotel. Also, there is a shopping centre on the next block. Was not too impressed with the staff as they seemed very casual, whereas my husband commented that it felt like a 4star hotel's service. Also, not a hotel for children as we felt (rather than experienced) that they would have preferred us to leave our little boy at home! A good place to stay for adults.

“Clean, convenient, stylish”

“Very artsy hotel in a very artsy city”

Nice lobby, nice bar and restaurant and very nice rooms with full equipped kitchen. The room wasn't large but very well designed and comfortable.

If you are a fan of Japanese cuisine, I recommend Shoya on market lane in the CBD. They have a great choice of seafood, sashimi and other Nippon delicatessen. Also a great list of Sake. Kampai!

“Return trip almost as good!”

This is my 3rd stay at this place in 12 months even though there was a welcome card in my room,especially as I am a "returner",I wasn't as happy as previously! May be I'm too contrary,but I didn't think the staff were as helpful as previously. The room standard was great,although I do wish the pillows weren't so soft! I'm basing my less than 100% review on two poor dining experiences at the restaurants associated with the hotel. On the Friday evening we ate at the noodle place,the TuHong Dumpling Bar,we hadn't booked,it was early,it was empty,when we asked for a table we were very begrudgingly given one (Oh sir doesn't have a booking the Maitre'd seemed to be saying,hardly welcoming)and one out the back and only on the condition were were out by a certain time,I would have thought the time it takes a couple it eats is determined by the speed the food is served myself! The food itself was ok,the dumplings great ,a scallop dish pretty goodbut a prawn dish with a spring onion sauce.disappointing! On the saturday morning we ate in Terrace Bar and Bistro.A very disappointing, and expensive mistake! I had a gluggy omelette, my partner a french toast concoction which tasted of just fried egg and served with a "poached" apple which was hard and inedible, both accompanied by luke warm, watery coffee,not a happy experience. If you want a good breakfast go across the road to the Prahran Markets and have a great meal at the Aroma Bakery and Cafe,twice the taste, half the cost! !

All of the local area is great for shopping and eating..and even a few antique shops..and hot chocolate..and coffee..etc etc..and if you want to cook in the rooms there are two supermarkets just around from the hotel..and if you want to walk up Grattan St you'll come across even more places to eat and shop.

“Flawless”

My partner and I absolutely loved this hotel. Great location a short tram ride into city, chapel st right there, comfy bed, TV straight in front of bed. Great unique art, modern hotel, frosted glass bathroom/toilet I would recommend for couples only. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Area recommendations

Prahran is awesome. Markets across the road, chapel street the next block over for great food and bars. You can catch the tram into the city practically in front of the hotel.

Nightlife

Chaple St - Go to Borsch, Vodka and Tears for a great cocktail or get a great breakfast along this street in the morning.
