Medford showing a park
Visit southern Oregon’s largest city to enjoy regional produce, including wine, and easy access to outdoor activities in Ashland, Crater Lake and the Pacific coast.

Medford is located in the Rogue Valley, a lush region surrounded by the Cascade, Siskiyou and Oregon Coastal mountain ranges. View this distinctive landscape as a dramatic backdrop while visiting southern Oregon’s largest city.

Begin your experience in the OldTown Dining and Entertainment District, Medford's downtown. This historic district offers picturesque architecture and a walkable layout, making it a great destination for an afternoon of casual exploration. Galleries and boutiques line the streets. Have dinner in one of the artisan restaurants here then watch a performance at the Craterian Performances at Collier Center for the Performing Arts. Enjoy the good food, nightlife and tax-free shopping opportunities that abound in Medford’s commercial center.

In the heart of Oregon’s fertile agricultural region, Medford is known for producing some of the best wine, cheese and produce in the state. Farmers markets and craft fairs are weekly occurrences at the Armory, Medford’s primary events center. Be sure to sample the Rogue Valley's delicious Harry & David's Royal Rivera pears. Drive a few miles outside the city center and pay a visit to one of the dozens of vineyards in the region. As well as tastings, most wineries offer food and live music options several times a week.

Medford is known for its warm spring, summer and autumn months. Spend a day climbing Roxy Ann Peak in Prescott Park. The trail, which is just 8 miles (12.9 kilometers) from the city center, is suitable for hikers of all ages. It offers beautiful views of Medford and the surrounding countryside.

Bear Creek Park and Hawthorne Park are both in the middle of downtown and offer convenient waterfront access, making them beautiful locations to enjoy a picnic lunch with a view.

Drive 13 miles (20.9 kilometers) south from Medford to Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival, an event that runs from February through November and attracts nearly half a million visitors annually. Crater Lake National Park, featuring a deep lake of an incredible bluecolour and surrounded by sheer cliffs,is just over an hour’s drive from downtown. Medford’s location also makes it possible to take daytrips to the Pacific Ocean, Klamath Lake and even northern California.
