“Mixed feeling...”
I stayed the hotel for 4 nights in the first week of May. When I arrived, the hotel was under construction and could not find the front desk. I dragged my heavy suitcase to the upstairs. The air conditioner was not working and it was so hot at the temporary lobby. The check-in time should be 12 pm, but I was told to wait until 12:30 pm or 1 pm. The front desk people were not so friendly and professional. Some of them seemed to be afraid if I talked to them in English. My room was on the 4th floor. The room was modern and clean, but the aircondition was not working. I found the braker was off in the room. After I turned on, I realized that it was not working properly. When it got too cold, I had to turn off the braker. I did not call the front desk for this issue, but it would be a serious problem if it was in cold winter or hot summer. I hope the hotel fixed the issues for the whole building. The constuction should be over for now. (The front desk said it would be over in one week.) The location was convenient. The breakfast was excellent and staff were very friendly. Internet connection was not free. 2 euro per hour or 8 euro per day. If I had a chance to stay in Madrid, I would not stay this hotel unless I confirm all issues are solved.

“nightmare!”
The first room they gave us was hot, the air conditioning didn't work. The room they replaced that with was occupied. Very embarrassing to walk into an occupied room. third room was filthy. Finally they upgraded our room it was large cool and clean. However, the next evening when we returned to the hotel our room was occupied by someone else. The night manager refused to accompany us to the room to try to recover our belongings, instead sending a clerk. Luckily our belongings were still there. I had the foresight to lock everything, including suitcases. The last room we were given had no phone service and we couldn't connect to the internet. All this in two nights. Nightmare!!!
“Excellent location”
Stayed in this hotel only 1 day, but was very happy with service. Competent staff, that spoke English; free internet; room is good size. Only inconvenience is that you have to lug your luggage up/down the fron stairs of the hotel - there is no ramp and entrance is inconvenient. Otherwise I have no problems recommending this hotel.
“Wonderful time at the Tryp Menfis”
I was sceptical because of the good rate I got thru Expedia...but the room was lovely and the staff so helpful, and altho the street Gran Via is hopping morning, noon and night...I still slept peacefully in my pretty space. I was on the 7th floor, so perhaps that helped. Really, really great space and light and soooo close to all metro stops. Enjoy!
