“Good Position - Generally Middling Otherwise”
This hotel is 50 metres walk from the El Carmen metro station which puts you in touch with everything in Madrid through its excellent subway system. The most we ever waited for a train in Madrid was 3 minutes and from the hotel it is only about 15 minutes to most of the major attractions by metro. In all other ways the hotel is average in quality - not good, not bad. It is supposedly rated 4 star but I would see it more as 3. There are 2 good supermarkets nearby which is handy. Wi Fi access offered by the hotel is ludicrously expensive. If you stay here, sign up for the other services available on-line.
“A very good experience”
Very professional personnel. I always received a polite treatment. The room was cleaned every day and , except the carpet, was inmaculate
“wouldn't stay there again”
We were disappointed. Hotel was rated 4 stars-I thought 3 was a stretch.. No bellhops or anyone to help with luggage. No one spoke English although the desk help tried. The area that it was in was not a very nice neighborhood. Outside noisy at night. Very long walk from lobby to room. Rooms and hallways clean BUT sadly in need of refurbishing. Even at 40% off it was very overpriced compared to what you offered in Malaga. Definately NOT... worth ---what we paid
“Not Impressed”
The Hotel reception gave my info to another guest (stranger) without asking me. Please donot use the safe in the room as it doesnot work in any rooms.they had to call the maintenance person to come and open the safe. the good think is that the hotel is near a train station .
“the worst in the world”
Rafael Hotel was the worst Hotel in the world. 1- The central air cond. was not working, we asked for another room, and the new room was with the same problem with the air cond. 2- The carpet on the floor was very dirty, and with spot. 3- The bathroom was terrible because the shower was dirty. 4- The ceeling : the same as a sprinkle, showing water

Area:
Ventas, Madrid, Spain: In the east of the capital, this middle-class area of red brick residential blocks with green sunshades is dominated by the circular Las Ventas bullring, built in 1929. Surrounded by atmospheric sculptures of horsemen, matadors and bulls, it incorporates Moorish architecture dotted with mosaic patterns and crests executed in sprightly yellows and blues. The bullfights run from March until October.
