“40minuteswalking to Plaza Mayor”
The hotel is 10 min walking to the metro, 40 min walking to Plaza Mayor, or Atosha train station. The bus goes every 10-15min in front of the hotel to Plaza Mayor. It is 15 min ride by bus. The hotel is in the safe area, with 3 supermakets near the hotel. The hotel has tourists' and students' groups, ask the different floor, not on the same floor with the groups. The breakfast has a good selection.
“Mediocre”
The hotel was nice and clean and the location was not the greatest. About a 10 minute walk or so to the train, but it was fine enough. Takes a good hour from the airport to get to the hotel from the metro. Everyday the cleaning women would knock on the door even though I put the "Do not disturb" tag on the door because they wanted to clean before their shift was over. So they would clean while we were in the room and while my boyfriend was in the shower. It was uncomfortable. Then when I checked out, they charged me for a movie I did not order but they insisted I did order. At 11 Euro I would not be ordering a movie especially when I am visiting a country. I could do that at home. Finally I had to let them charge me because I had to get to the airport and they refused to take it off. I agreed to the Wifi charges of 4 Euro per 24 hours, so why I would deny this one charge is ridiculous. Unfortunately no one spoke great English so it was hard for me to argue with them. But it definitely put a bad taste in my mouth for this hotel. Other than that the rooms were fine and comfortable and clean. If it wasn't for those two things that occurred, I would have stayed here again.
“A convenient hotel in Madrid.”
Convenient location with public transportation. Supermarkets and restaurants near by. But only one English channel on TV and charges for wireless use.
“Not Impressed”
We arrived from the sister hotel in Barcelona (which was fabulous) and were rather dissapointed. Admittedly this hotel is very old, and the rooms smelt "musty" and also had the smell of stale cigarette smoke (which is horrible). The staff were not particularly friendly and it seemed a major effort for them when asked a question or for some help. When we asked for an iron it seemed as though we had asked for a million dollars and of course were flatly refused. All in all it was a bit dissapointing as this was our last day in Madrid.
“It was just ok”
The hotel was a little further from the center of town than it seemed online. It says that the reina sofia is only 1.5 miles away- but it is definitely not 1.5 walking distance. You must take public transportation for sightseeing to any of the places. The hotel staff was courteous and the hotel was clean.
“Wolf in sheep's clothing.”
Worst 4 star hotel I've been in. To start, the rooms are stuck in 1980, very drab and sad. It felt like a 2 star hotel with 4 star prices. The front desk service is also unsatisfactory. If you want to stay at a place where your questions or requests for a taxi are met with a, "why are you bothering me" look this is the place for you. Other 4 star hotels we've stayed at at least try to call a cab for you , here they point outside or give you some excuse why they cant. Also, as a 4 star hotel they should have free wifi. Every other 4 star has it. You'll will be charged for 24 hours of use. Dont expect it to work for all 24 hours though. It went down every 30 minutes and requesting a new password was met with "ugh dont bother me again" look. In terms of location, its extremely far from the city center and no where near any landmarks. For the price this is by far the WORST. This is a 2 star MAYBE 3 star AT BEST.
“Horrible hotel”
Where do i begin? The staff is beyond rude, it seems they hate and detest the hotel guests. Yes, hate and detest. The worst hotel service I have encountered in the 15 countries I have travelled to. Each time I was at the front desk, they were arguing with a guest. Checking in and checking out are adventures. The hotel is not in a good location. Its too far from the metro station although there is a bus stop right in front that can take you to plaza mayor. Although advertised as a 4 star hotel its really a 2 star level. The rooms are depressing and worn out. Nice bathrooms though. The walls are paper thin. Could not sleep for 2 nights. I stayed here due to the price, but I would have rather stayed in hostal with a better location. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
“Good hotel if central location isn't at the top of your list”
I needed a place to go from the airport as I always take a major snooze after landing. This hotel was a little further way from the metro station and the central area (Gran Via) than I had intended but I suppose I should read a map better when booking so that's on me. I recommend you map it before you go or speak good Spanish. I asked for an extra hour for check out and got a kindergarten lecture about not asking for more time (not completely uncommon in the Spanish "hospitality" trade) but overall a good stay, nice neighborhood. I moved to Gran Via the next day.
“Water Not working. Terrible location”
The water in the hotel was not working. The location was terrible. I do not recommend this place.
“serviceable hotel for a business trip”
I was recently in Madrid on a business trip and unfortunately most hotels were already full due to a large international conference being held, so I found hotel Praga on Expedia. It is a perfectly serviceable hotel, clean, decent size rooms, not too far from the city centre via taxi and a couple of decent restaurants close by. The staff at the front desk were rude and not helpful and would not even answer simple questions such as how to catch a taxi in the morning. As it turns out there is a taxi rank right outside the hotel so it is no issue at all, but would have been nice if the staff had told us this instead of refusing to book a taxi. If you do not plan to spend a lot of time at this hotel, it is a reasonable choice for the price.
