“Small romm, very old hotel”

Not good room, not good smell in room, like cigars. Good location, near train station.

“Pleasant experience”

I stayed three nights. It was hard to find but on site parking helped and the comfort of the room was good.

“Hotel Gavinet”

The hotel is a no-frills hotel, at reasonable price. Service is good, but towels and bed sheets are not changed during your stay. Supplies in the bathroom: a small soap and a shower cap. Great neighborhood, mostly singles and young marrieds, hotel in walking distance of bus and metro stations, small stores and restaruantes, at reasonable prices.

Area recommendations

Madrid is a great city, full of monuments, museums and buildings. To hang out, try Puerta del Sol, or Plaza Mayor.

Getting around

If you have time, the best priced transportation is the Madrid City Tour bus. Line 1 and 2 covers the whole city, you can get on and off the buses all day long, from 9 am to 10pm.

“Great Service, Great Location, Great rooms!”

We visited this hotel to celebrate my brother's 30th birthday. When we arrived everything was fast and easy. The hotel staff was polite and helpful. We even made a early check in without any additional Costs. The hotel is very nice, the rooms are big and super clean, we had a big safe in the room, big enough to put our passports, ipad, money and other valuables with plenty of space. The safe is a digital one that works with a personal password so you don't have to carry a key and the best part it's FREE. The bathroom was BIG and clean also. We had free wifi in the room that worked perfectly. The only downside is that expedia sold us the hotel including Breakfast Buffet and the hotel didn't include it they said that they never provide free breakfast. The other downside is that there is no minibar in the rooms which could have been very useful. The hotel is close to Puerta de Toledo Metro Station & La Latina Metro station. Walking from Puerta toledo is a uphill walk, while walking from la Latina is a down hill walk. Plaza Mayor is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The street is quiet. There is a madrid vision bus station in a 5 minute walk. The hotel also offers a Airport shuttle to go back to the airport and costs about 6 euros per person. There are 2 small Chinese supermarkets on the side of the hotel where you could buy Water, Gatorade, Coke for a better price than directly to the hotel. In conclusion on my next trip to Madrid I will definitely stay at this hotel.

Take the madrid vision Tour it's totally worth it. You must visit: -Plaza Mayor -Puerta del Sol -Cibeles -Paseo del Prado -Santiago Bernabeu Stadium (real madrid) -Atletico de Madrid Stadium (will be turn down soon) If you plan to visit museums and stadiums go to the Plaza Mayor and find the tourist information office. Ask for the Madrid card it's a great deal.

“Great Location”

Breakfast was a rip but we were able to find some close local places and have more authentic taste. You could walk downtown but the metro was only 1.5 blocks away. It was worth the money.

“No air conditioning_Give other guests key to your room”

Receptionist was very unpleasant at check in. Given key to room where the luggage of other guests was still in room. No apologies offered when returned for another room/key. Acted annoyed. At check-out, receptionist on duty was much nicer. Electricity blew out whenever we tried to use the hair dryer. Never had air conditioning or circulation. Convenient location, but not a very well prepared hotel and staff.

“Ganivet made my stay in Madrid a great one”

From Check-in to check-out it was a 5 star service by all the staff involved. We arrived 1 hour before our check-in time and without any hassle they allowed us the room. This was unexpected and we were over the roof. Rooms were clean and the toilets were superb. As mention in the intro the Metro is very close it was just a hop and a jump. The best thing was the breakfast it was great and the restaurant was very homely. Thanks to Hotel Ganivet my stay in Madrid was pleasant.

“Great Hotel!”

“Excellent hotel”

Excellent, clean, inexpensive hotel close to Plaza Major and center of old town but farther than anticipated. Metro stop just steps away!
