Budget hotel at a budget price. Services and cleanliness a bit uneven. Skimping on shampoo and towels. Light were turned down in pool even when open. Breakfast was put away even when people were still eating. Need more emphasis on the customer and less on the dollar!

“Basic Hotel - No Frills”

This was a very basic hotel - no frills. It met our needs (location) but wasn't a great experience - no fridge, the hot tub was not filled, people were sitting out in lawn chairs smoking at all hours. Seemed a bit run down. That being said, it was fine for the value and I appreciated the location.

Best to stay downtown Madison near the capitol square because that is where all the action is if you have a son or daughter attending UW-Madison but I was extremely pleased with the Stoughton Inn as it was close enough to drive to downtown Madison yet there was a very quaint downtown strip in Stoughton for nightlife and eateries. Try the bowling alley on the north side of town - basic bar food in a friendly home-town atmosphere with some big screen tv's for all the sports action if you don't have a ticket for the game (my daughter had 2 tickets to the Ohio State game [#1 at the time] but she wouldn't take her old man :-(.

“good, quiet, basic hotel”

We basically needed a place to sleep, so didn't check out any more of the hotel than our room. It was clean and comfortable. The small fridge and microwave would have been welcomed had we been staying longer. Very quiet which was great. You didn't hear noise from outside the room at all. We did walk by the pool area and it looked clean, but the hot tub wasn't full. Convenient to the Alliant Energy Center which was where we wanted to go. Only looked in the door to room to see what they had for breakfast on my way out. Didn't look like much, but didn't go in at all

“Great value and very convenient”

If you need accommodations in Stooughton, this is the place. Walking distance to downtown with its unique shopping and entertainment, and a great value for the price. Yes, it's getting a bit older, but the rooms are spacious and clean, and mine had a fridge... which was unexpected but very welcome.

“Not fancy but comfortable accomodations in a nice town”

The title of my review says it all. The owners are always accomodating; rare to find a small hotel like this that is inexpensive and comfortable. One of our party got sick during the trip, and the staff was very helpful during that time. The breakfast leaves something to be desired, however, there are 2 locally owned diners across the street that both serve excellent, real food, and one of them opens at 5:30 am. I have stayed at the Stoughton Inn many times over the last 5 years.

“Not impressed”

Rooms were shabby looking, drapes were stained, sheets had old spots on them. Our window was broken. Continental breakfast was very sparse in offerings. The things we liked were the location and overall quietness. Stoughton is a lovely town. This could be a nice little hotel if better maintained and updated.
