Call it Tinseltown. Call it Hollywood. Call it the City of Angels. Call it whatever you want; L.A. is synonymous with one thing the world over – celebrities.
People check in to Los Angeles hotels in their thousands every year, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite star, and leave disappointed. But, if you know where to look, both on and off the beaten track, you're sure to rub shoulders with at least one or two famous names. All you need is a little bit of insider know-how.
One of the key elements to a successful celebrity-spotting trip is to find the right accommodation in Los Angeles. Staying in the downtown area is a great way to make your L.A. life as easy as possible. Along the famous Hollywood and Vine you'll find the literally star-studded streets of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Littered with the names, and handprints, of the world's most famous people, this is a Los Angeles must-see. Who knows, you may even be lucky enough to pass by a live ceremony. You never know who you might catch grey-handed!
Celebrity spotting
Head north at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine to find the Capitol Records Tower. Label of artists as diverse as Katy Perry and Ringo Starr, this iconic building is an L.A. landmark. Or head to the Hollywood Bowl to see one of these artists in the flesh (albeit from a distance). This venue has played host to legends ranging from Bille Holiday and The Beatles, to Fred Astaire.
If you want to get a closer look at the A-listers, you'll have to venture a little further. Chateau Marmont is one of the most famous hotels in Los Angeles, and its bar is a perfect spot for a bit of classy mid-week celeb-spotting. Alternatively, head to Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, or "sushi row" as it's more commonly known. A lot of the recording in this area goes on in Studio City, so plenty of big names can be spotted taking a quick lunch along this street, or popping into the bars in the evening for a drink after a hard day's filming
Following these tips, and keeping your eyes open in even the most innocuous of locations in L.A., will mean you'll finish your trip not only with some great memories, but hopefully with some autographs or excited photos to add to your scrapbook too!
