“Met Expectations - Very Well!”
Location was perfect for the end of a business trip to the UK. Walk out the front door & its all there. The Savoy across the road, Covent Garden up the road. Room small & clean.
“London jaunt”
Biggest drawback is the lack of air conditioning. It is an adequate hotel with no frills. The location is good and the staff friendly. Certainly not luxurious but OK.
“Great location”
I like the single room option. It is ideal for someone traveling alone. It is just around the corner from Covent Garden and has 2 tube stops (Covent Garden and Charing Cross) in close walking distance. It was clean, modern and close to the action. My one compliant is that internet was not included in the price. Most hotels offer this for free in the US so I had expected the same.
“Best Hotel in London”
I checked in and out of the Strand several times over the last month and found the service exceptional and the location great. The staff were very efficient. With the exception of the rooms being a little hot, but not too bad, the rooms were modern, good sized, clean and conforable. I used another exclusive hotel for one night during my stay in London and the location and service was not as good, the neighbourhood appeared threatening althoug hthe room was great I would not recommend the second room hotel, the Strand Palace was superior in all ways.
“A lot of character but has its negatives”
I stayed at the Strand Palace for a couple nights at the end of a business trip outside of London. I selected a single room which was sufficient for my needs but the biggest downfall was there was no air conditioning and limited air flow. Also internet charges were not cheap for the limited amount that I needed to use it which is frustrating when other hotels provide free wi-fi. This may be a function of the age of the hotel. Location is convenient in the West End and right near Covent Garden. It met my needs but not a hotel that I would be dying to go back to.
“excellent location, strand hotel”
I've stayed at this hotel several times over the last several years. I find the location excellent for my needs. Its close to the Piccadilly line if you want to take the slow train to and from Heathrow. Its close to many places to eat (e.g. convent garden), to the theater district., and to all the major sites. The hotel itself is nothing fancy but I only want an inexpensive place to sleep.
“Excellent location and value for money.”
Excellent location for theater and sights.
“Cooking in London!”
Rooms very small. Rooms very, very stuffy and hot. No airconditioning!
“Perfect hotel for newcomers to London”
I had never been to London before and needed to go for business and for sightseeing. The hotel's location is perfect. It's central to everything, and it's a safe neighborhood, near many of the theatres, Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, and Charing Cross Station. The concierges are what makes it first class. They helped me every day. Gave me maps and directions, bought me advance tickets to the Tower of London, arranged the transport to the airport. Also you can get free computer acess in a nook off the lobby. The hot breakfast that came with my room fee was amazing, an extensive hot buffet. My room itself was tiny but I don't mind that. It had everything I needed and there was very little noise.
“Great great hotel”
Everything I needed - clean, minimalist in the best meaning of the word, absolutely great location. What more can one ask for a stay in a great city offering so much!
