“A fair deal”

The Queensway Hotel was well situated, about three blocks from the Paddington Station and was modestly priced. My wife and I felt that it was an acceptable deal. The rotating management staff were not super friendly but they did an adequate job. We could not get the wireless internet to work on our IPad. The breakfast was included and was fairly basic but good. Overall, it was a good price for what we received considering the costs of staying in London. I would recommend it.

“Queensway at Sussex Gardens”

There are very many hotels in the Sussex Gardens-Paddington area but all are definitely not equal, even within a given price range. The area is very convenient to all manner of public transpo. This hotel is a good value for the money, nothing luxurious but adequate, well-cared for, clean and convenient. The breakfast was adequate, continental in the moinimal sense but the service was very efficient and friendly. These people work hard to keep things clean, working smoothly and their customers happy. I would definitely recommend this place over many others: it provides good value for the money. You can get other hotels for the same price in this area but a world of difference in what they offer. Stick to a tried and tested hotel like the Queensway.

Area recommendations
This is a great area for a hotel. Tons of pubs, restaurants, sightseeing venues, etc. Paddington station is two blocks away and another three RR terminals are within a mile. There are several tube stations nearby on different tube lines: Circle, District, Metro, Bakerloo. A great area to set up a base but be sure to get a hotel which is what you expect, there are several which advertise A and you get B. The Queensway is not like that, you get what you pay for.

“Location great, worst service I have ever experienced!”

The Queensway appeared to be a decent option for a tolerably priced hotel in London with great access to the city. While I had no real problem with the hotels facilites, other than sub-par breakfast causing to eat out anyway, I did hav serious issues with the service. It was simply the worst I have ever experienced? I have stayed in a "interesting"places all around the world and have never had this negative of an experience. After experiencing a full scale inquisition simply asking for a extra towel (only 2 were provided for a double room, I almost had to apologize for running that morning and creating the need for the extra towel), and then arriving back at the hotel after dinner to a locked entrance and a post-it note on the door saying "will be back" we will never be returning and will do our best to prevent anyone else from experiencing this negativity on vacation. Just to check myself, I did confirm with fellow travelers that hostels (even low rate hostels) are more than happy to provide an extra towel upon request. Also, most of the time hostels seemed to have far superior food! Please don't waste your money there and if you do go try to at the very least limit all contact with the desk staff. They will just dampen your experience.

Area recommendations
Paddington, great access to the city and heathrow airport.

“typical Hotel area, but nice sourrounding near by in spite of closeness to station”

fortunately it was a twin bed bedroom, otherwise there would have been no space for the luggage. Bathroom was tiny, toilett was halfway under the sink. Otherwise ok to sleep. Sythetic blankets, was on the lower ground floor on the way to kitchen and besides some ventilation equipment, perhaps not best locationwitin the hotel. Clean, very close to Paddington tube stn. Breakfast nothing out of this world. Person attending breakfasts not very polite. Reception ok. no chair in the room, only stool

“Great location, great quality and value for money”

I spent a lot of time on the web looking at the 100s of hotels available for my one night stay in London and finally chose the Queensway. Its hard to tell from small photos on the web, but the reviews did help with my decision. I was very pleasantly surprised and happy with my choice. The hotel is only 1 block walk from Paddington station and is in excellent condition. The reception staff were friendly and the hotel was clean and looked like it had recently been renovated. The room was comfortable and the bathroom, while tiny, was functional. I left early the next day and did not stay for breakfast, so can't comment. I would definitely go back!

Traveller's tip
There are lots of cheap places to eat around the area - pubs, Indian etc.

“Very convenient location. Shiny clean.”

Queensway is a few minutes' walk to Paddington Station, where the Heathrow Express took us to the airport in only 15 minutes. On the way we passed several restaurants and pubs. In the other direction from the hotel, along Edgeware Rd., are loads of Middle Eastern restaurants. We chose Moroccan and had a superb meal. The hotel's breakfast is nothing special, but it will sustain you for a walk across Hyde Park to the V&A and other museums.

“Small but nice”

The Queensway Hotel is a small hotel with narrow corridors and tiny rooms, but it is clean and comfortable and in a great location near Paddington Station (which would have been great had the metro workers not been on strike the whole time we were there). It is a short walk to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Our room was comfortable--small, but everything we needed was there--and best of all, the bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were very clean. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, so can't comment on that. Would definitely stay again if we return to London.

“Can't wait to go back!”

Great Location! Literally a couple blocks from Paddington Station, which is a wonderful home base to use for your transportation needs. We stayed a week in April '09 for my wife's birthday. We had a room with 2 twin beds and bathroom. Rooms are small, but for us, it's just a place to sleep. Complimentary buffet breakfast is comprised of croissants, 2 types of cereal, toast, fruit salad, yogurt, coffee, tea, and juice.

Traveller's tip
In the lobby, pick up a brochure called "London Smartsave Street Map" (it's red). It gives you a 20% discount to several attractions and restaurants. We also booked 2 tours through Expedia (they use Golden Tours company in London) and we were very impressed.

“Not Good for Single Occupants”

I read about this hotel on TripAdvisor and it seemed like it would be a good choice: it was very close to both an Underground station and to Hyde Park, plus it was cheep. However, since I was staying by myself, they put me in a VERY small room. There was barely enough room for the bed and a small wardrobe. There was a safe in the wardrobe, but the battery cover had been taken off and it didn't look safe. The comforter on the bed was severely stained and the shower wasn't thoroughly cleaned. The included breakfast had a rather poor variety. The management was not very personable, though not rude in anyway. I arrived too early to check in, and the best they had for a place to leave my luggage was leaving it in their manager's office which was didn't seem like a very secure place to leave valuables. At the end of the day, it did provide me with a cheep place to stay for the night. It was probably cleaner and more private than other places I could have stayed, but I would have much preferred to have spent a little more money and gotten the comfort I'm used to with hotel rooms.
