“Very nice, but disorganized and out of the way. No wifi in rooms!”
On our 1st night a drunk couple argued on the balcony at 3:50 am. I reported them and the night manager didn't go outside to see where the sound was coming from. Instead, we got dressed to have him come into our room to confirm which balcony they were on. This was after the third phone call and after we'd been up for over a half hour. I complained but we were not moved. On the 2nd night the pub nearby had an event that blasted music until it closed. It would have been nice for the hotel to know this was going to happen so we could have moved. I had the same problem with noise at the Sheffield location. Bad luck with Hiltons I guess. I paid a lot for 5 days of wifi in the bar but then the bar became renovated without notice and I couldn't use it. Lack of wifi in rooms or lobby is a joke in 2011. Breakfast was great but servers always take your silverware with the plates and you have to track more down or ask for them. Be sure to take them off your plate before you get more food. Water glasses are almost impossible to find and then you have to fight for them when they come out. Then you have to find water, which is another problem. They should just put two glasses for every person on a table instead of just one for orange juice. The ferry service is very inconvenient due to break times. Every staff interaction was pleasant. Room was clean except for face marks on the window. We only had one washcloth on the first night and then none on the next three nights. Weird.
“Great staff”
The only downside to the hotel were the beds. They were wobbly. Hard to imagine, I'm sure, but they moved so much..bizarre.
“Don't expect what you see in the pictures, but not too bad.”
I didn't think the hotel looked anything like the pictures online. Our room was really small and the heater was broken and constantly running which was annoying in April. It wasn't in an ideal neighborhood. We weren't close to anything but they did offer a shuttle every 15 minutes to a main public transportation hub. The breakfast was good and the hotel staff was always pleasant and willing to help. Overall, I was disappointed with the hotel as a Hilton and will most likely look for something else if I return but for not being in the room all that much anyway it worked out ok.
“Not bad”
Hotel is located in residential neighborhood. It is about 20 minutes from the downtown. You have to take a shuttle in order to get to the “Tube”. Shuttle runs about every 15 minutes. Hotel dining is not cheap, but there are two pubs within 2 minutes walking.
“Would stay again”
The shuttle bus to the tube station was great. However, they need to extend its operating hours to match the tube. I attended a number of plays and the High Voltage Music Festival in Victoria Park. I would have stayed in the area and had a light meal after the events but was afraid I would miss the shuttle. The hotel said I had the option of a bus or taxi. There is a water taxi that takes people to the various attractions along the Thames. So it is very convient for people interested in seeing the sight. The staff was very giving me direction using the tube.\ THey even mentioned I shoulded buy tickets from "touts" only authorized ticket aganscies
“Will never go back!!!!!”
From a location standpoint, this was the worse hotel that I stayed. For a Hilton property, they should sell this asset, or do a better job in servicing the business community which works in Canary Wharf. All-in-all I can't begin to express the dis-satisfaction about my stay at this hotel.
“Pleasantly surprised by the canal locks.”
The Hilton London Docklands may be a bit out of the way, but the service and quality more than make up for it. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is built on an old canal lock near the London Docklands, directly across from Canary Wharf. Though it's a bit removed from the rest of London, there's a courtesy shuttle that will take you to the underground station at Canada Water. From there you can get the Underground that will take you anywhere in London as well as the national rail stations. There's also a ferry that will bring you across the Thames to the river boats that run about every 15 mins. The room was clean on arrival and a bit cramped, but for the price I didn't mind. The hotel menu is very good, and there's a good Thai restaurant down the street. The hotel has a spa (The Amethyst) and a gym. With a room upgrade you will receive a free breakfast, so upgrade if you can. Even though it's a bit off the beaten track, this is a hotel I was very happy to find. When I find myself in London again, I will be sure to stay here if I can.
“I will go back to this Hotel”
Overall the service was very good.
“Great waterfront hotel”
Though the hotel was a bit far from London proper, the watershuttle enabled us to see all of London very easily. The hotel staff was absolutely fabulous. Thee staff were efficient and knowledgeable. The rooms were a bit small, but comfortable. After all, when you are travelling, you don't spend much time in the room. We would definitely go back.
