“Exceeded expextations on basis of review comments”
clean, conveniently located. Was much better than expected considering what we had read in previous reviews.
“Comfortable with a helpful staff”
My Wife and I stayed here for a Thanksgiving trip. The room was nice without many frills. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and bright. The staff was very helpful. My wife had left her wallet on the plane when we arrived in London. The concierge helped us contact the airline and we got the wallet back without incident.
“Excellent Choice”
I'd be more than happy to recommend this hotel: The location, facilities, service and price.
“Good value for money”
Good hotel off the main street of very upscale neighborhood. I've stayed here lots of times. No safe desposit box in room. You have go to concierge for safe desposit box. But first you need to leave deposit at front desk. A pain. Hotel also use third parties for a lot things like wi-fi service and computers in the lobby. So you have to call third party tech support if you have problems.
“Good hotel”
We were a group of five and stayed at the Copthorne for 2 days and were very satisfied. Though the furniture and some hotel deco needed renovation we found the place was very appropriate and very good cost benefit relation. The rooms are large for London standards, and though a little far away from principal atractions a subway station is nearby (two blocks) from which you can travel anywhere inexpensively. The breakfast is great and well worth the money. Great bar and excellent concierge. We wanted to extend our stay for one day but the hotel was all booked. Had to change to a nearby Hilton which proved more expensive and provided no were near the facilities and comfort of the Copthorne. I you seek to save on hotels and don't care about a little travelling to different London attractions, do stay at this hotel you won't be dessapointed. Nice restaurants nearby.
“What happened to the Copthorne”
We have stayed here three times before and were always extremely satisfied. This visit was a complete disaster. We were in three rooms over a 48 hour period and the plumbing did not work in two of them. The staff were very polite and listened to our complaints but we were left with the feeling that they didn't really care that it was such a miserable experience for us.
“Second Stay at the Copthorne Tara Hotel”
I first stayed at this hotel in October 2007 and chose it unseen because of it's convenient location in South Kensington, a nice part of London I knew as a student in the late 1950's. My comments for the second stay remain basically the same as for the first: It is a suitable hotel as a place to sleep, but breakfast at McDonald's five minutes walk away in Kensington High street, across from the Underground station, is still better value for money. This time we did try the hotel's two new (?) restaurants for dinner, one with conventional western food and the other Thai/Malayasian/Singapore, and found them good. The concierge staff were very helpful and the money exchange office in the lobby gave a better rate than available at Heathrow airport.
“Subpar comfort/cleanliness, needs updating, good location”
Great location. Rooms are not super clean, they don't change the sheets daily, dont give you clean cups, no minibar, no topsheet and they use a topsheet instead of a fitted sheet. Bathmats for inside shower are old and discolored. Can't open windows for fresh air in room. No wireless. No safe in room. Was here on business and my client dropped me off and literally said whoa is this hotel okay for you to be staying at?
“Copthorne Tara”
The hotel needs complete renovations, including room doors, bathrooms and carpets.
“Would never go back”
This hotel leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms are dated the shower was terrible. We we're not assisted with our luggage when we arrived or when we checked out. Overall the staff are nice but they really don't care. I do not recommend this hotel, it is certainely not 4 star quality, it's more like a 2. Don't waste your money!
