Make the most of miles of shoreline and surf breaks or visit a local artisan to learn about their craft in this picturesque coastal and lakeside city.

Stretching along the breathtaking Pacific Coast and the shores of Devil’s Lake, Lincoln City is an exciting waterfront city comprised of several smaller communities. The fresh sea air and relaxed atmosphere has long drawn artists and craftspeople to this gorgeous area, so make the most of your trip to Lincoln City and try glass blowing, pottery, painting or sculpture with a local professional. Check out the city’s beautiful beaches and expansive lake framed by forested hills. You can try surfing, stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking or simply fly a brightly colored kite at one of the coast’s best kite-flying destinations.

Downtown Lincoln City is thriving with local activity and there are plenty of opportunities for visitors to join in. Check out the Lincoln City Cultural Center or the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology to see and make some Oregon-inspired artworks or stop by one of two glass-art studios to see live demonstrations of glass blowing. Try local seafood at one the downtown restaurants and enjoy fresh crab, clams or mussels.

Lincoln City has 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) of beaches, where you can make the most of the wide-open spaces and curling surf breaks. Check out tide pools or go hunting for agate and interesting rocks. Check the swell at Nelscott Reef or tackle smaller breaks on the surrounding beaches.

Explore the different communities that make up the larger Lincoln City area. To the north, you’ll find Oceanlake and Wecoma Beach on the narrow strip of land that separates the Pacific Ocean from Devil’s Lake. Go windsurfing or kitesurfing on the lake when a breeze is blowing. Glide across the lake’s surface with a canoe or kayak during still conditions. Enjoy the forested parklands of the Devil’s Lake State Recreation Area camp on the lake’s western shore. You might spot bald eagles and cormorants from this picturesque patch of wilderness.

Lincoln City hugs Oregon’s Pacific Coast. The nearest major airport is Portland International Airport, located 101 miles (162.5 kilomteres) away. Winters are mild here, but the beach and lake conditions are best in spring and summer.

A great retreat
"My friend and I are 80 years old and we've been going on retreat for 40 years where we do art work, walk, and have fun. My biggest problem was the stairs and all the art material we brought. The back stairs worked better. The heating was old and was either off or on."
