We wanted to be near airport so did some looking on expedia saw the "Hotel La Scaletta" and read its reviews we booked a room with a view to the coast, must say we were very impressed staff went out their way to assist with any enquiries and they even arranged a shuttle at 15 euros each to airport. Even though room had air conditioning we shut it down and enjoyed the sea breeze.

We spent two nights at this hotel before leaving Italy at the end of a two-week trip. After two more quirky, independent hotels, this hotel gave us a needed dose of standard relaxation and convenience. We reached it easily by train and taxi from Rome. The rooms are lovely, overlooking the sea and the marina, with good walks in either direction. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Ostia Antica is close by bus and train, a wonderful site. The airport is a short cab ride away.
After three weeks traveling in Europe, my wife and I were flying out of Rome airport back to the States. Our flights were a day apart, so I stayed at La Riva one night and my wife two nights. Our balcony overlooked the Mediterranean Sea across the way. It was a great relaxed way to finish up our travels.

Really, there is a party in the green area just in front of the hotel, and it's loud. This is great if you are in it, but if you want to sleep before 3 am, ask for a room in the rear of the hotel. The hotel was very willing to change my room for me, but unfortunately, they only had a tiny room with a single bed left, so I opted to stay where I was and suffered through it. The bed and pillows were hard, and I prefer soft, but this isn't a complaint, just a matter of personal preference. The floors are concrete as someone else mentioned, but given the amount of sand that is dragged back, can't blame them for this. The decor was very cute and beachy in the room. The common areas could use an update. In my opinion, this hotel is a good destination for young people who come to the shore for a party weekend. For more mature guests, a little more comfort and quiet would be better.

The staff was so accomodating as we asked to be moved to a room that had two double beds with balcony that made our trip so special. The staff helped us find places in town regarding a computer outlet store to send an e-mail and helped with internatinal package to find a box and where to drop off package. Every day they would asked us how was our day with a friendly smile so comforting with breakfast coupons to be used at caffe downstairs in front of hotel. "A serendipitous experience in Rome (Ostia da Lido)"
What a pleasant experience we had at the Hotel Belvedere. This hotel is close to the metro link to Rome. It is also about a 100 yards from the Tyrhennian Sea. A great view from our room. Downstairs was a busy little restaurant/bar that was actually a micro brewery of beer. Rather unusual for Italy but we loved what they were making. The hotel also had a ton of pretty marble. The room was rather small but we found out later it was larger than most European hotel rooms. It had a great bathroom and was all we really needed. The staff was quite friendly and almost always spoke English well. We highly recommend this hotel. It is a budget friendly option to staying in Rome. There are also a lot of nice restaurants in and around Ostia and the neighboring town of Fiumicino ( where the Leonardo da Vinci airport is located). It is only about a 10 minute cab ride from the airport. There are also incredible ruins at Ostia Antica, adjacent to Ostia. All in all we would definitely stay here again.
