“Wonderful resort!”

We stayed in family chalet in the rainforest, upgraded with sea view. Both rooms are spacious, clean and have their own shower room/bath tub and toilet. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Info counter and activities booking/enquiry desk are very handy. Good pool and beach. Though Berjaya is very close to Cable Car and Oriental Village, it is far from Kuah and other attractions. Best to hire a car or motorbike/scooter. We hired a 2 months new Honda City for RMB350/4days, and only spent RMB20 for petrol. My husband tried island hopping, diving & snorkelling, and both of us had spa massage. Kids enjoyed the pool. It was a good holiday at Berjaya. But I have to say Langkawi is not so developed, except the resort.

“Need to iron out check in process”

The hotel is nice and has a good location. The one thing which hits you really hard on arrival is the painfully slow check in process. It takes a really long time to get your room and complete the formalities. The front desk is terribly understaffed and you have staff getting out for lunch breaks rather often. Otherwise a very good experience, once you get past this initial hurdle. The Thai restaurant is very good, with a fabulous location. Try it for sure.

“Nice spot shame about room”

Resort was in a lovely spot but a fair way from the main tourist areas. Rooms are in need of upgrading as lots of filler filling up holes and not done very neatly. Room size good but extra bedding for child is very small (accommodate under 8 only). Transfers between villas very slow so you are much better as close to the resort as possible. Surrounds, pool area and beach very neat and clean.

Area recommendations

Probably best area to stay on the island but you will need to take taxis to the towns as distance about 20-30 minutes away.

“Great place if you dont have the problems we did cause they sucked”

Was a great destination, amazing place to stay other than the service at times. would definitely go there again as long as I could guarantee that I would get the bed and room I book.

“Hotel resort in a jungle paradise”

This hotel is located within walking distance to the Langkawi Cable Car and the Oriental Village. We had a nice bungalow just off the main path not too far from the hotel lobby. During our stay, we experienced eagles soaring overhead; monkeys on the balconies and trees; fish jumping out of the water; monitor lizards slithering along the side of the road. The private beach is peaceful and clean. The staff at the hotel and restaurants were very friendly and accommodating. We had a romantic dinner planned for our last evening at the Thai restaurant out over the water. Everything was beautiful until the sun went down and we were enveloped by a swarm of moths that had hatched right after a downpour. Not the restaurant's fault. Bring bug repellent because there are definitely bugs, especially after rainstorms. We made a trip to Pantai Cenang by taxi, but we're really disappointed with how crowded and commercial it was. We found the taxi drivers to be very friendly and honest. All in all - a very memorable stay at Berjaya Langkawi. I think my only gripe/complaint is that they use diesel carts to shuttle guests around and the staff uses 2-stroke motorbikes to get around. It kinda spoils the whole jungle vibe when you can smell the diesel and 2-stroke fumes and hear their engines.

“Very Unique exprience”

The hotel is located in the tropical forest. You can watch animals ( monkeys, barans, squirrels, flying monkeys, flying foxes- never know they even exist)while sitting at your terrasse. It was a little bit humid in the room, but cleaning lady did her best to keep the room well maintained. Hotel personnel was expremely attentive and polite. Nice food- bothe eastern and european, beatiful location, good beach. Very nice spa Free excursion through the hotel rainforest with watching animals is highly recommended to attend

It appeared cheaper to go with taxi drive instead of excursion. Change money in the airport- better exchange rate

“Berjaya”

Thanks to expedia we were able to book the Berjaya hotel in langkawi at a lower cost and just 10 days before the trip. The berjaya hotel is a good place to stay but is very far off from the city. The hotel was reasonably maintained but their room service was very worst. Alll the major attractions except the cable car and 7 wells are far off from the hotel so we ended up going to the city everyday. We had lots of fun on the berjaya beach though. But the water sports activities was little costly and also they had some problems with the parasailing, so we went to a local operator named SPA. Overall we enjoyed the trip a lot.

“Not fantastic”

- medicore service - very old rooms - stain on bedroom walls and bathroom walls, noisy air-con, bed bugs - couldn't sleep on the first night, had to use insect repellant to get a good night sleep, bathroom decor is very basic - deluxe chalet has no seaview as they claimed - inconvenient to get to and from room by buggy
