“Brilliant service and a brilliant view.”
Fisrt, I need to let you know that it pays to research places a little more than I did with this hotel. Because I failed to do this, I didn't realise that the taxi ride (and the gouging taxi drivers) would be so expensive. But it didn't need to be; I just failed to research it. As for the hotel, I was welcomed by a young an who was expecting me. He gave me excellent service and even provided me a meal at a good price when I realised that the local restaurants closed a little early... at that time of year anyway. The view goes without saying; it's drop-dead gorgeous. The hotel owner has excellent friendly staff working for him and he is also very hands on too. He provided me with a ride to the funicolare (look that up, it is essential you use that cable car in Brunate) with my very heavy suitcase. The room was clean and cleaned each day. The net connection fast and reliable. The breakfast also excellent. The rate was very good value too. I was on my own, but I can imagine this being an ideal place for a very romantic getaway for a few days. The only (very minor for me) negative is that the pool needs attending to, although I suspect the owner will have this fully sorted by the summer. Overall, an excellent stay and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. just be prepared for the walk frmo Brunate to the hotel, but I believe the hotel will provide a ride to the hotel from the funicolare.
“Stunning views, friendly service”
This is the place to go when you want to get away from everything. Actually, you could spend a couple of days just on the hotel balcony, taking in the view of the lake a couple of kilometres below. Very nice, well-maintained hotel with friendly and helpful hosts and clean rooms. It's a bit of an adventure getting there from Como - first a cable car halfway up the mountain, then a very steep walk the rest of the way. Remember to call the hotel in advance to arrange a lift if you have bags. A coupel of very nice local restaurants offering home-cooked food at decent prices too.
