Lovely location, disappointing customer service
Lovely location. Reception staff were quite unhelpful with information at check in and needed prompting eg what time is breakfast?, where is breakfast? Where is the lift? etc We stayed on a B&B basis only to find a couple of days later that they offered All Inclusive. This information would have been welcomed at check in, as we would have upgraded our stay but couldn’t when we requested as we had less than 3 days remaining. We had an incident during our stay and all I will say, as a result, is ensure you use the safe in your room for anything valuable. Overall a nice hotel but the management/staff could do with a refresher in customer service.

We had a great time at the beautiful Lake Como! Very close and convenient to everything! The staff were great,parking was near by, the breakfast buffet was very good, lots of things to choose from. Great experience!

I normally try to be positive in my stay. But, the only positive thing from this hotel is the location. The rest was disappointment. The room was outdated and dirty impression as well as had unpleasant smell. Some staff were not very friendly. the breakfast was busy and food was not good. Uncooked bacon, eggs and sausages.

The staff were lovely and the view of the lake and pool area was great. The hotel was very dated with old bathrooms and the lift felt like it would break down when you were using it. The breakfast was not good, would definitely not recommend paying for the breakfast.

Rubber Seal from window was hanging off, Door handle for room door was loose. Pealed off paint fallen in shower. Your only given one key card. Staff knew little about the area. General room disrepair to the room. Would be good if staff gave the room a once over before guest arrives. Location was good and the room was clean.

Como was an amazing location, the hotel was pretty much as described with an amazing pool on the lake. The downside to the hotel was the quality of the morning breakfasts. Had we known that this was an all inclusive resort (please note this wasn’t advertised as an all inclusive and we didn’t book it as that) we would not have stayed as the quality of food at an all inclusive is usually terrible. It very much catered to its audience and for that you can’t blame the hotel, it’s just not what we were expecting. However the pool facilities and the location to the ferry was brilliant.

Amazing pool with a great view. A bit disappointed with the hotel itself. Bed terribly uncomfortable, rooms outdated and in need of repairs. Do not be tempted with the all inclusive package, food is mediocre at best.

The rooms were outdated and tired looking. I had a fridge in the room which stank discussing. The upside however was the view from our balcony across the lake to Bellagio. Lots of local restaurants and small shops. Parking was difficult and not available on site.

Hotel is in dire need of renovation. It is practically falling apart. Breakfast area is like a canteen, very noisy and hectic. Rooms are very old with lots of wear and tear to the paintwork and stains on the chair. The one lift serving the 200+ rooms takes about 10 minutes to go from top to bottom. Free parking is claimed by the hotel, which is over 100m away, very unsafe and do not even attempt if you have a nice car. It is unpaved, very steep and full of potholes. Damaged my car. When I asked about the free parking I was then offered to pay €10 to park behind the hotel. Why would I do that when it is €7 per day to park in front of the lake in a much safer place. Probably the worst hotel I have stayed in and made what should have been a lovely trip to lake como a stressful ordeal. Do visit lake como however, as it is very beautiful, just don’t stay in this hotel. Avoid at all costs!

Basic rooms. Towels weren’t changed the entire week even though they were meant to be every 3 days. Which in my opinion isn’t regularly enough in the first place. Poor bathroom and toiletries. Tired room, dirty curtains and broken door/window. Pool and bar were great though! And with a platinum band (all inclusive) we had access to many restaurants and bars with great selection of food and drink!

Old hotel but charming. I wish they had early check in we arrived an hour before time and were not able to check in. Food was ok no complaints there but the lift did break down one evening and was fixed by morning.

I really wanted to seim in the pool. I picked hotel in part because of pool. Hours were so limited 10-6 pm. They wouldnt make an exception Disappointed in that.

The property is in a desperate need of upgrade. The carpets , the drapes are dirty. We arrived at the hotel around 11:30 pm. There was no one at the reception. We waited at the reception desk for about 15 min to be checked in. It was late we were tired and we were not sure if anyone will show up at the reception which cause unnecessary stress.

The hotel location & views from the lake facing rooms are lovely. The reception & restaurant staff are very pleasant and helpful. The old man that runs the bar can be very rude and abrupt. And the bar area is dated. The pool across the road is great. The ferry over the Bellagio & the use of the sister Hotel down the road. When purchasing the all-inclusive deal is a bonus. Meals for vegetarians can become representative. The hotel could do with a refurbishment. Oh yes, parking is limited. Cost 8-10€ per day. Overall for what we paid, it was a good deal. The location, weather, and scenery were amazing.

Property location good. On arrival we were given a room that resembled a cupboard. After asking for a better room, this wasn’t a problem and were given a room 3 times the size. Not sure why we couldn’t of had this first ?? First time in 40 years of going abroad I’ve had to pay for sunbeds in the hotel im staying in. In a 10 day stay this cost me €240, which I consider an large amount of money from by budgeted spend. This was the main downside and disappointing part of my stay. Had I been asked on check out if everything was ok I would have picked this up then, but was not asked. Hotel is nice and lakeside views were amazing but they just seem to want to take as much money from you while you’re there. Good location to get the ferry to other villages along the coast. Renting a boat on the lake was the highlight of our holiday

Horrible check in- staff would not give us any information about the facility. No signs or explanation from staff on parking; intially parked where they explained the lot was, but come to find out you have to drive up a hill to a sketchy dark parking area if you dont want to be charged. Staff would not answer my questions about amenities. Staff was rude. Not enough towels for a 3 person room. Room was OLD and falling apart. Shower was gross and doors repeatedly fell off the hinges spilling water everywhere. Air condition DID NOT WORK AT ALL and requested technician never came to fix it. Tried to leave doors open at night to get air but got covered in bug bites. Room decorated very poorly. Not enough pillows for all beds. Mattresses horrible. Wood floors creaking so loudly wakes everyone up to walk across the room. Breakfast was below average. Pool was nice- but open to public and you have to pay for towels, chair, umbrella separately. Restaurants not good. Positives: great view from room. Convenient to ferry dock.

This was the largest hotel we stayed at on our recent trip to Europe. Although the rooms were very nice and very clean, breakfast was quite mediocre and the pool closed at 6pm, which was very very disappointing. Check out is at 10am (no flexibility for a late check-out) and the pool didnt re-open till 10am, so we had no opportunity to swim at all. (We were only there for one night). Other than breakfast we didn't eat at the hotel but there were many dining options available nearby.

The location of Hotel Britannia is excellent but the hotel needs refurbishments. The chandeliers, sofa furnishings and curtains are grand, but overall interiors were totally neglected. We were not able to sleep as it’s noisy. You can hear everything from adjacent rooms and hallways.

This is a reasonably priced, perfectly situated hotel. It provides its own cheap transport to Bellagio (3 euro, and free if you stay there all inclusive), has a very helpful front desk with great English skills, and has a great breakfast buffet and a cheap buffet dinner for those who want to dine in. Griante looks across the lake at Bellagio, a pretty sight. The is a great hike from the hotel to San Martino (a tiny church perched on a mountain-side). The church was locked when i got there, but the view is spectacular. The Britannia seems to cater to an older clientele, with more people from the UK than the average Italian hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
