“Stylish Kyoto”

Our room was spacious and beautiful (we had the Forest themed room). Little touches like expresso coffee machine and tasty local sweets were complimentary. Reception staff were helpful with local knowledge in English. We ate at the hotel restaurant for a special occasion and the food was terrific and the service very friendly. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys individual style, great service and a wonderful location in Kyoto, across the road from the Imperial Palace and close to public transport.

Area recommendations
Kyoto is an extremely easy city to get around in a bus, so take a different bus route each day and discover temples, streets and shops that may not be in the guide books. Also a good base for other towns in the area.
Getting around
Buy an unlimited bus/metro pass on arrival for worry free travel on all buses and metro throughout the city.

“perfect home away from home... loved it!”

This was a wonderful place to stay in Kyoto. Starting with the exterior of the building, everything is beautiful and stylish. When you enter the staff is very friendly and attentive, and you are immediately relieved of your bags and seated for a welcome drink. The room we had was small but well set up with many lovely treats. Espresso maker, Japanese sweets and tea, PJ's and robe, stereo with ipod dock, and a huge flat screen tv. Pure comfort. The staff went above and beyod their duty to help us with daily sightseeing and future travel plans. The food at the Hotel Restaurant was REALLY good, fairly priced, and they had a really great wine list. All in all it was one the our favorite places we have stayed in the world. The staff at the Screen made it an above expected fabulous experience!

Area recommendations
All the top sightseeing sites are wonderful. We did a day trip to Nara and that was a great experience and an easy train ride from Kyoto.
Getting around
The city is best connected by bus. It is best to get a day pass on the bus from the driver (as you exit). This allows you to just flas a date stamped card all day and night to travel the whole day. Check times of the local bus to your neighborhood as some finish a litte earlier than you might want. It is really well sign posted and you will get good at it. By day 3 we were experts!

“Love it- Cool room. Great service. Very pleasant stay overall.”

Room- Chic deco and very comfy/ huge bed, with standard facilities of boutique hotel. (ipod hub, free Internet, cool little details) Service- Impeccable. I asked the front desk to call a cab and take me to a Fugu restaurant which I'm not sure of the address. Front desk helped to locate the restaurant, made reservation (which I totally didn't think of) , and asked the restaurant to prepare English menu for me. So attentive! Hotel Maintenance- Some stains on the carpet, and the shower curtain has mold on it. That bothers me. Location- 10-15 mins walk from subway station (takes longer with luggage); it's quiet and serene with the Imperial Palace as neighbor, but not what I'd call convenient. Despite the downsides, I'll totally recommend this hotel. Fun to stay!!

“chic hotel amongst Kyoto temples”

Modern designer boutique hotel with friendly staff - room designs vary so not all will suit everyone. Rooftop bar delightful. an alternative to the Japanese breakfast is the boulangerie/cafe down the street. Good variety of restaurants in walking distance, range of shops and residential neighbourhood.
