We are a family of four and stayed in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto for a total of two weeks. Our hotels range from high 5 stars to mid 4 stars and this one is our favorite in terms of price, quality, convenience and cleanliness. My suggestions for anyone, especially from US are staying away from overpriced big chains and loon for newly remodeled small hotels. You’ll be surprised.

I really enjoyed my stay at Park Hotel Kyoto. It's about 1.7 miles from the Kyoto station which I walked because I didn't have too much luggage but it's also right by a local subway stop you could take as well. It wasa central location close to all the shopping and resturants. Everything was around a 1-2 mile radius. I love to travel and walk every to see things so it worked out! The hotel itself is very clean and feels high end especially for the price. The staff was very helpful and even let me receive some mail that I needed a Japan address for.

Good for the price
Park Hotel Kyoto is inexpensive. The room is about what you should expect for the price. We had a room for two people. The head of the bed was pushed into a corner with no space between the bed and the walls at the top and one side. The only way for the person on the wall side to get in was to crawl in from the foot of the bed. There was one couch, a small round table, and no other furniture. There was no closet, only four hooks on the hall wall, and no drawers to unpack into, so you must live out of your suitcase. The bathroom was good except that the only place to put anything down was a tiny class shelf over the sink. The room included coffee and croissants in the morning. For a small fee you can upgrade the breakfast to the full continental breakfast that includes juice and a few Japanese breakfast items. We did the upgrade and found it sufficient. We had dinner one time in the restaurant. Its menu is extremely limited. Use it only if there is no time to go somewhere else. The staff was always very courteous and helpful. They will help you make dinner reservations at nearby restaurants. The security is very good. The location is excellent, near the subway and Nijo Castle. We were satisfied with what we got because we spent no time at all in the room except to sleep. It would be unsatisfactory if you have to spend time in the room, so be aware of what you are getting.

We picked Park Hotel for our stay at Kyoto because it’s close to subway station. However it’s a bit of a walk to shopping area. Condition and amenities is average for this price range. It is relatively new, but cleanliness is questionable. We found hair in bathroom when we checked into our room, various debris on the carpet, unpleasant smell with some towels and pillow case has sweaty smell. Some of the problems were rectified but it shouldn’t have happened at the beginning. Similar to other reviews, noise from street traffic is another major problem throughout our stay.

The hotel is nicely decorated and clean. However, the hotel is on Oike street which is very busy. The sound from the traffic was extremely loud at night and disrupted our sleep every night. The rooms are clean, however, the mattresses are on the floor. There are no hooks in the rooms or bathroom to hang your towel or anything else. They provided one free coffee per person in the morning which was appreciated. Overall, it wasn’t a terrible stay, but I would not choose to stay here again.

Front desk and lobby looks nice. Staffs were able to provide support with reservation bookings. Staffs speak English well. Traveler friendly. However it seems not traditional Japanese style management: Spaces are not user friendly. No hooks or wall hangers available in room. Table was found very sticky. Bathroom cabinet space was dusty.

Very clean, sleek, modern hotel. The room was very well laid out and had everything I needed for a three night stay. Staff friendly. The main Kyoto station is just three stops away and subway station is very close. For the rate I paid it was an amazing stay!!

Ended up coming alone and the staff immediately gave me a refund for the additional tax i was changed. Didnt have to ask. I am a large person even for western standards and shpwere were sp much more spacious then other stays.

This is a really solid property and we got a fantastic rate for our stay. Conveniently located within 15-20 minute walk to the UNESCO Nijo Castle and plenty of other dining/site seeing options. The rooms are a bit no frills but, from our experience standard for a 3 (or even 4) star hotel in Japan. The beds are mattresses on a platform and are pretty firm. Could be difficult to get up from for older/disabled folks. The staff was great and spoke English very well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much 4 out of 5.

Highly recommend!
Lovely hotel in a beautiful area five minute walk from the subway station. Clean beautifully designed Japanese style rooms. Nice lobby and wonderful staff.
