"Good stay"
Friendly and efficient staff. In house dining not great but restaurants contained within the hotel complex were excellent. Supermarket in basement was handy too. Front desk staff very friendly and efficient. Food court and supermarket in the basement were a nice surprise - very inexpensive meals there. Rooms serviced appropriately daily.

"Great location"
Great staff - very helpful with organising taxi's, airport transfers, room service etc. etc. Exceptional breakfast but food was otherwise not particularly special. Well appointed and equipped rooms. Sky bar is great - it's reputation perhaps proceeds it a bit so it wasn't as good as I expected, mainly full of other tourists going in order to say they've been. However, it's a unique bar worth a visit. We were also recognised as hotel guests and taken to a window seat which was a pleasant surprise.

Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur

"Right in the middle of everything"
I have travelled to KL several times in the last three years, as im a fan of the Sepang circuit and motorsport.. this week I stayed for the first time at the Mandarin. Somehow after walking into the lobby ages ago my thoughts were that this hotel was out of my price range. After this week I realised that in fact it was not.. The staff at any establishment can completely change a holiday experience. And to be greeted with the friendliness and service that was offered to me, by all staff was genuinely the most unique aspect of my stay.. for me this is most important.. as I travel alone. The hotel itself is beutiful, perfectly decorated and seems like a movie scene. Clean and sparkly in all aspects.. I had acess to the club lounge. Where the views from the 24th floor while taking breakfast were enough to allow the coffee to cool while overlooking the KLCC park and water features. The ever present twin towers are within a few hundred meters. My room was on the 28th floor. And the direct view of the park and towers made such a nice place to sit and relax before and after dinner.. Well appointed rooms.. comfortable and very clean.. highly polished stonework in the bathrooms, good lighting and ample services within the room. I would be happy to recommend the Mandarin Oriental to my friends and others seeking advice on where to stay.. it truely made for an exceptional visit Thank you

"Fantastic hotel"
We stayed as a family of 4 at the Residence part of the hotel. The location is very ideal for shopping (Bulkit Bintang and KLCC). Also easy access to the monorail and tube system. The apartment we had was very good and had all that we required. The breakfast was very good and had good selection of continental and local food. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We will most definitely stay at the same hotel.

Where to stay in Kuala Lumpur?

With one foot proudly in the past and one planted firmly in the future, Malaysia’s vibrant capital is a melting pot of sights, sounds and cultures. From the ancient Jamek Mosque to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, everything in Kuala Lumpur, from the bohemian street markets to the luxury hotels comes with a sprinkling of Asian spice that has helped to make it one of the world’s most visited cities.

KL – as it’s known locally – is a favourite port of call for shopping, food and nightlife. For bags of atmosphere and a chance to perfect your haggling technique, head for Petaling Street in bustling Chinatown to bargain for designer label copies, fake brand-name watches and pirate DVDs. Shop for local handicrafts, paintings, antiques and souvenirs in the multi-ethnic Central Market, founded as a traditional wet market in 1888 and housed in a striking building now classified as a Malaysian Heritage Site.

Retail heaven & strong restaurant scene

Alternatively, lose yourself in retail heaven at one of KL’s glittering malls. Perhaps the most famous is Suria KLCC, located at the base of the Petronas Towers, with over 400 shops spread across six floors – worth a visit for the Isetan department store’s food market alone! The giant Mid Valley Mega Mall and neighbouring Gardens Mall will keep serious fashionistas happy for days, with top local designers represented alongside all the major international labels.

Kuala Lumpur’s rich and varied restaurant scene reflects its cosmopolitan history, with influences from China, India, Malaya and British colonial rule. Eat cheaply and deliciously at street level on Lorong Tanka Abdul Rahman (Little India) or reach for the stars in the revolving restaurant atop Kuala Lumpur Tower. Then head for the Golden Triangle, hub of the city’s nightlife, to groove to top international DJs, catch a live band or maybe try a bit of karaoke.

As diverse as the entertainment scene, Kuala Lumpur accommodation ranges from international chains to small family-run establishments. Indulge in all-out luxury and a spectacular view from a flashy high-rise, or go for convenience at one of the mid-range hotels within easy reach of the main shopping and entertainment areas. Wherever you decide to hang your hat, KL is sure to work its cosmopolitan charm on you.
