"A peaceful retreat with beautiful walks on the doorstep. The cottage is well equipped and a perfect base, being near to Kingsbridge. Malcolm and Sarah are welcoming hosts. We would definitely return."

"Well appointed property, fantastic location and great facilities on-site. Reasonable parking in courtyard a little way from the property. Only slight downside was intermittent broadband, which was only a problem for our group due multiple individuals to trying to work during our stay. Have booked again for next year"

"Air conditioning in the room did not work Bit poor as we were in a mini heatwave. Could not use our room from 3pm as it was only just starting to be deep cleaned after having a dog in the room. On the evening we had to wait for two hours for food. Not told that when we ordered. The place was just short staffed and it showed. My partner was told by the manager that our meals would be compensated due to really poor service and presentation. That hasn't happened. The next morning was better. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly. Overall I think the pub was just too short staffed. For the money we paid,it is not good enough . I do feel ripped off by the hope and anchor. Shame."

"Disappointed not to be able to have breakfast, but given the use of space in the fridge & warned so was able to take cereal, fruit yoghurt etc. Very comfortable spacious room with bottles of water, tea & coffee in room."

"Lovely cottage in ideal central location. We were away for a couple of days after recovering from hip replacement surgery when my husband had been so attentive. The sun shone (most of the time) but it would have been nice to have known how steep the stairs were as I had only just progressed from crutches!!!"

"Perfect location if you want to make Hope Cove your base. Walks to Thurlstone, Bantham and Bolberry on your doorstep, plus eateries and shop walking distance.The accommodation itself is a little tired looking, chairs well used and grubby. Double bed not particularly comfortable and duvet and covers poor quality and ill fitting. Cobwebs everywhere in door entrance. Surprised that items such as a dish cloth, toilet rolls etc not provided (even to start you off) or even a welcome pint of milk.The rubbish and recycling was confusing and not clear instructions where to leave it. Parking outside was ok, but not sure we parked in the designated place as someone else was always there.Sliding door to small patio is very difficult to open and close.That all said, if you can overlook these issues, it was ok for us as we were out most days and just needed a base. it has a wonderful view over the bay, has plenty of seating, has 3 small bedrooms, towels are provided and a small dog is allowed.It did I have a for sale sign up."
