Arrived at 21h15 from Singapore and taken to Protea Hotel, only to find that it was not the right hotel. I was booked into the hotel at the airport, but WHERE at the aiport? It did not see any signs of the hotel inside and outside to give me an indication of where it is. I asked several people in all sorts of positions where it was, and I was amazed that most people dont know it existed. At about 23h00 a security gaurd told me it is at the airside, but by now I discovered that since I had already gone through immigation and I was on the land side now, I needed a valid gate pass to enter the airside again! So, how do I do that after just completing the flight I had a gatepass for?!! In the mean time my roaming service did not kick in yet, so I could not contact the hotel. I tried getting access through wifi which did not succeed also.Eventually I simply started looking for a different hotel, and a security person got me in touch with a hotel with a shuttle service. On my way there I finally got connected to a roaming telco service and I found an email simply saying the hotel is airside and I should not ho through immigration. Thank you very much Protea Hotels! I would imagine that a large hotel chain would foresee problems like this and try other means of communication like useing a text or tried calling since my mobile number was known to them. On top of everything my booking was non refundable! So I get charged for one night accommodation and all I got is a single e-mail.
