“clean and nice, close to all attractions”
Niles hotel is nice, clean and close to all attractions. It is minutes away to most historical places, and 2-minute away from the tramway and busses. One thing may not please my fellow Americans who are used to large spaces. This is Istanbul where every inch is utilized. Rooms and bathrooms are small but this is the case in all hotels in this historical district where real estate is very expensive. Hotel has very friendly staff and good breakfast. It offers also free wireless internet but the signal may not be strong in all rooms.
“Nile hotel is veru comportable but need more 2%”
Very kindness staffs, comfortable room and excellent food. However, the location is so-so, need more 2%. :) If you have some problem of your body and legs, you can't choice this hotel. But your young traveler or feel young, good to you go to everywhere. Very easy to go the Blue Mosque and grand bazar. And I very appricate to every staffs for your kindness, faithfully heart.
“Nothing but smiles from Niles”
We had a great stay at the Niles Hotel in Istanbul. The hotel is very charming and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed the rooftop terrace for complimentary morning breakfast and afternoon turkish tea. The grand bazaar is extremely close by which is great if it's a stop on your list but a little bothersome if you don't want to be haggled by street vendors going to and from the hotel. Other than that i couldn't recommend the place enough.
“Not worth the money”
I usually like to support family owned businesses and pick small, intimate hotels to stay in. This, and the hotel description and pictures presented on Expedia, made the Niles seems like a good fit. However, the location is off the main road and on an extremely cramped, noisy and dirty street. My room was on the second floor which was really the first floor and was right on the side walk and very noisy. The hotel is very old and although the reception area is small, it's authentic and clean. The rest of the hotel needs a serious update. My room was cramped, bathroom was tiny, wallpaper in bad condition, tv not working, some lights not working, no kleenex in the room. The roof top area where breakfast was served looked deceiving in the picture. The view they show is if you are standing and maybe from a table or two if you are sitting. The included breakfast was good and they had beautiful birds in cages that provided lovely singing and chirping. The staff were pleasant and helpful, however I found it difficult to communicate with one of the front desk employees and got a bit frustrated. I believe that the front desk staff need to speak good, clear English. Overall the hotel was not bad, but I would not recommend it. There are so many hotels to choose from that I would not pick one in the side streets. If I go back, I would pick one on Ordu, which is the main road in that area. Niles might be a good fit for other travelers, but unfortunately it was not for me.
“Nice place, nice staff”
This is a very decent hotel. It's reasonably priced, and the location is good.
“Great location, great staff”
Hotels at this price point are generally acceptable in terms of comfort, but Niles goes well beyond what one might expect. The staff are all incredibly helpful and kind. Rarely do I feel I actually made friends with hotel staff, but this is the case with Niles. I will be definitely be back!
“Hope to go back someday”
Very convenient location in Sultanahmet, five minute walk from a tram station and reasonable walking distance from historical sites. Great breakfast on beautiful rooftop terrace restaurant overlooking the sea. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel has a warm, family atmosphere. I sprang for the more expensive turkish bath suite. The room was spacious and attractive, although the Turkish bath was really nothing special and cannot really be used during the hot, summer months. If returning alone, I would probably stay in one of the smaller economy rooms. Couples would better appreciate the space, atmosphere, and privacy of the suites. I believe the Niles had a lot to do with how much I enjoyed my five days in Istanbul.
“A hotel with perfect staff”
I stayed at Niles for 5 nights with my wife. The hotel is located very near to the Grand Bazar, so location wise it's perfectly situated in the old part of Istanbul. The hotel itself is small, relaxed and quite. The staff are AWESOME. Upon arrival we had a simple orientation on the city by receptionist Kemal who was very attentive to all our needs throughout our stay, recommending placed to visit, things to eat, and arranging bookings if necessary. The breakfast is really good and the roof, where breakfast is server, is lovely. Selma will meet you there every morning with her warm and welcoming smile, an excellent start to the day :) Yimlaz was also amazing and helpful. Overall we enjoyed it, and think it was the right choice. You don't need to hesitate on choosing Niles, you simple get what you pay for, and a bit more!
“Five stars service”
The Niles hotel services exceed our expectations. The room was tiny but not different to the average rooms in Europe or NY. I was amazing with the cleanliness of the room and hotel common areas and the friendly staff always available to help us. The neighborhood is good, quiet and walking distance from Grand Bazaar and Sultanamet. The breakfast was good, but is recommended to introduce varieties as cereals, omelet, pancakes etc. The coffee and the tea were great! Definitely I will recommend this hotel.
“World of difference between older and newer rooms”
The room we had originally reserved was *very* small and really not big enough for two people, not to mention luggage, etc. The A/C was not working and the system that allows the lights to come on using the room key was also not working properly. The lights were turning off completely, intermittently. We had already asked to see one of the hotel's newer rooms ('suites'), and decided it was very worth the extra cost. The newer rooms are *amazing*! Please note that this review is for one of the newer rooms and not the original booking. The new rooms are exceptionally clean, spacious, comfortable (bed a little hard), and include great amenities like an actual Turkish bath-style bathroom (Which we had to learn about to fully appreciate!). The rooftop area of the hotel is great, with a superb breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel. It was difficult to justify the additional cost of the better room at first, but for a 5 night stay in Istanbul it really made our trip.
