“The best spot in the old city”

I booked for two nights when I first arrived in Istanbul and liked the hotel, location and staff so much I ended up staying and extra five nights. I took of traveling on several occasions and they kept my extra bag for me when I was away, they set me up with some good trips and had lots of good advice. Wifi in the rooms with an internet cafe next door.

To be honest, I could have sat in the roof bar of the Hotel Legend all day. Fabulous views over the Bosphorus and Sea of Marmara one way and the Blue Mosque and old Istanbul the other- I don't think I have ever seen anything so beautiful. When I did manage to tear myself away from the roof, I found the hotel ideally located. 5 minutes walk from the Grand Bazaar, 5 mins from the Blue Mosque and University area and 10 from the Hadji Sophia and other sights of Sultanahmet. In fact, practically all of the main tourist attractions are within short walking distance of the Hotel Legend. It is also located 2 minutes walk away from a tram stop which runs the full length of European Istanbul, which is very handy. The rooms were clean, nicely decorated, air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms and a reasonably-priced mini bar. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Perhaps my only complaint would be that the buffet breakfast was very basic. There was only coffee available (no tea) and there was orange squash rather than juice. However, the food was fresh and edible. I plan to return to Istanbul many times and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. The location and the roof bar are simply perfect.

“Perfect location”

I highly recommend the Legend. The location was in easy walking distance of Hagia Sofia,the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, the best Hamam and the Metro system. The neighborhood was authentic but not too touristy. We found our favorite souvlaki spot just on the corner. The room had a great view of the rooftops and even the Sea of Marmara. The rooftop breakfast was a delight.

Nice location, friendly people, nice service. Close to main attractions in the city. Breakfast was rich.

“Ideal Location in Istanbul”

When we arrived at the Hotel we were greeted by very friendly english speaking staff. They went out of their way to ensure we got the most out of our stay. They sat with leaflets and guides asking what we were interesting in seeing, then recommending their own experiences. They recommended a day trip which included a Boat trip on the Bosphorus - fantastic. The Room had everything you require with comfortable beds, fridge, TV and central heating. The Bathroom was clean, hot running water, shower and toilet. The Roof Terrace views were spectacular. The location of the Hotel was in walking distance of the Blue Mosque, many Restaurants, Shops, Markets and a 25 min taxi ride from the Airport. The Breakfast included in the price was great. A good breakfast helps a good day of sightseeing and the food provided was perfect. The staff went out of their way to arrange transportation. Thoroughly impressed, I intend to return to this hotel.

“Adequate for short stay”

Central location, Golden horn of istanbul meant visting all main sites of tourist interest were within walking distance. Breakfast was basic. No restaurant service but did have a bar.

“Small, friendly and convenient”

We stayed at the Legend from 2 - 6 March 2006. It is a small, simple and spotlessly clean hotel with a Turkish feel. The staff were all so friendly and went out of their way to ensure we got the best of our short stay in their marvellous city. We ate our substantial breakfast (self-service buffet-style) in an upper floor restaurant with the Sea of Marmara in the background. At night we went up on to the Terrace Bar to wonder at the Blue Mosque, lit up in the background. The hotel itself is located just behind the Divan Yolu and in easy walking distance of the attractions of the Sultan Ahmet region - The Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, the Hippodrome and various museums. Many other attractions are a short ride on the Metro (1.10 ytl each however far you travel)or by bus. Yes, we'll definitely visit the Legend again.

“Can't wait to go back”

I had been to this hotel for about 10 years. The original owners still there - it's very nice to be able to get re-acquainted. It's locally owned and not a chain. It's clean with friendly staff who speaks English. It has excellent Internet WiFi in rooms. A "7/11" store is located across the street; a pharmacy and a TurkCell next door. All popular tourist sites: St. Sophia, Blue Mosque and others are within walking distance.

“A little gem”

Hotel Legend is a great hotel and I'd recommend it to everyone who wants a cheaper hotel. It's in a great location, 5 mins to Blue Mosque and the staff cannot do enough - very friendly and helpful. Clean hotel with a fantastic roof terrace. I'd stay again!

“Good position”

The Legend is very well positioned, situated close to the Blue Mosque. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the overall accommodation is strongly recommended for this standard of hotel.
