“Will be even better after the pending renovation”

We stayed 2 nights at the Yasmak Sultan, located in proximity to several Yasmak hotels including the new Sultania Boutique (shares the spa). The Yasmak Sultan has a prime location , 50 meters from the Guilane Tram stop and 200 meters to Topkapi Palace - Blue Mosque and Spice Market are also very close. We had a 4rth deluxe double room which is a larger and with a windowed alcove with a view of the Hagia Sofia - well worth the small difference. The service provided by the staff was both friendly and impecable.

“Normal safe hotel with very good room service (staff tidy up the room very fast)”

This hotel has good location with the tram-line just a few minutes walk from the hotel. It is also a quiet hotel. So the location of this hotel is very good since there is also a shop selling bottled water and snacks just a few minutes walk from the hotel plus there is a shop or tiny super-store that sells Turkish Delight sweets and Turkish Tea etc. There is also kebab shop that sells 250gms of crispy kebab (enough for one meal) for just 3 Turkish Lira or 1.5 Euros. Nearby (a few minutes walk and very close to Romance Hotel) is a very good carpet shop called "UNSI ESTAMBUL". I bought a beautiful 100% wool, hand-woven 3 feet by 5 feet carpet, plus a 1 meter by 2 meter carpet at this UNSI ESTAMBUL carpet shop. I was able to fly these 2 carpets with me, first to visit Ipoh in Malaysia and then fly home to Australia.

Area recommendations

Sirkeci is a good area with tram-line for easy transport and near the Grand Bazaar and historical mosques and other tourists attractions.

I took a cruise on a boat for 2 hours on the Bhosphorus River at 7pm to 9pm and I was able to see both the Europe and Asia side of Istanbul on opposite sides of the Bhosphorus River.

“Great location, can walk to everything!”

This was a great hotel because of the location and cleansliness of the room. The breakfast buffet was a good way to start the day and the staff was very friendly. I would stay there again when I return to Turkey.

“good value and convenient location”

The hotel is conveniently located in the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul. It is an easy walk to the Archeology Museum, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome and Bascilica Cistern. A metro stop is less than a block from the hotel, so getting to other areas of the city is also easy. The roof-top restaurant has beautiful views of the Golden Horn, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. The staff was pleasant and the room was very clean and comfortable.

“Air conditioning system or policy needs to be reviewed badly”

The A/C was changed to winter temperatures and could not be controlled from the room or the main system even though it was very warm. Hotel manager told us that the temperature settings were preset and it has been set for winter. The temperatures in the rooms were recording 25-27C even at night and nothing could be done to lower the temperature apart from opening windows. The maintenance personnel were really nice and tried to get us a fan which he said he borrowed from another hotel, so between 2 rooms, only one could have the fan. i

“A comfortable gem”

We had occasion to also stay at a nearby five-star hotel during two visits to Istanbul in August and September. The Yasmak Sultan was superior on all counts. Our room was quiet and the beds were super comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the rooftop restaurant for a drink after a hard day's sightseeing and in the morning to watch activity on the Bosphorus.

“Felt Like a Sultan”

I recently spent 3 nights at this hotel and was quite pleased w/my stay. I was traveling alone and had a single and while it was small, it was more than adequate. My room and the hotel public areas were clean and well maintained. The location was ideal for me w/access to the tram, restaurants, and tourist destinations. I particularly liked the breakfasts which were included w/the room. I would definitely stay there again.

“Staff was rude...”

I had a friend check in with me at the front desk who was just planning to walk upstairs with me while I put my bags away, and the staff already began asking her whether or not she'd be staying with me so they could charge extra. We said "no" and that she was just walking me up. The following evening after dinner we came back to the hotel and had a drink at the bar. Afterward, we went down to my room, and within 5 minutes I was being called by the staff asking if she would be staying the evening. Again I said "no", and after this the staff said that she was not allowed to be with me in my room. We were only "allowed" to be in the bar or lobby. At this point I was furious. I have never been harassed like this at a hotel for having a visitor. Even if she did end up staying for the evening, they could have just notified me in the morning that I would be charged for a "double" occupancy that night. I would not recommend this hotel based on this experience, nor do I plan on staying there again...
