“Best location for the budget”
PROs: Amazing location, 5 minute walk from the best touristic attractions and quality restaurants Very cheap! Good breakfast buffet Friendly staff CONs: Floor in our room was uneven The heater was making a funny fountain-like noise (but we liked it anyway!) Small details not taken care of such as: No garbage bin in the room (only one in the bathroom) No tissue box No refilling of toiletries
“Very Nice Experience”
Our stay at the Agan was excellent-we were both impressed by the front desk staff-they all made us feel very welcome and were so helpful in answering our questions and giving us directions. They even went the extra mile when we had an early departure and made us some sandwitches to take with us so we wouldnt miss breakfast. We would definately return if we get a chance to come back to Istanbul. Keep up the good work....Jim and Patsy
“Very helpful staff”
When my passport went missing, they helped me with contacting the embassy. When we needed a shuttle to the airport, they arranged it. When we had to leave too early for the free breakfast, they made us sandwiches. When we needed a room and they were full (3 days later), they found us another room at the same price, just down the street. Thank you SO much for all you did for us. When one suddenly needs help desperately (the passport), having staff like this makes a world of difference.
“Hotel Agan does the job”
The room was small and the satellite television had few English channels. And the restaurant across the road has loud evenings (until midnight) every night. The restaurant guys outside can be a bit of a hassle. But other than that, everything was more than satisfactory. The room was clean. The staff was adequately helpful. The location was excellent for sightseeing. Nowhere is perfect. Hotel Agan had it's flaws. But overall it is excellent value for money and a fine place to stay.
“Hotel Agan is awesome and the staff CANNOT be beat. They are amazing! Can't wait to go back!”
Hotel Agan was a wonderful place to stay on our recent trip to Istanbul. The hotel was clean, convenient, easy to find, and set in a great neighborhood close to many of the major sites. It is also very close to the Tram line so we were able to use public transit very easily to get to sites farther away from our hotel. One of the best things about Istanbul were the wonderfully friendly people we met every day there. The people at Hotel Agan were no exception. The absolute best part about this hotel was the staff. They made us feel very welcome immediately upon our arrival and made sure to make us feel at home during our entire stay. I have already recommended Hotel Agan to many friends traveling to Istanbul, and I myself would love to go back and stay there again!
“A nice bunch of gentlemen”
The men running this hotel were gentlemen and treated me very well. I was traveling alone as a woman and they were very respectful towards me. That said, I don't recommend traveling alone as a woman in Istanbul. Most of the Turkish men are very aggressive toward western women. They think all western women are easy to get into bed with. Some of this is the fault of the western women I observed because their behavior encouraged this idea that they're willing to go to bed with the first Turk who shows any interest. I found their aggressiveness too much to bear and left early. Not all the Turkish men are bad but too many were for me to feel safe alone in Istanbul. But let me repeat the fact that the men running Hotel Agan were gentlemen and respectful towards me. If a group of women were to travel to Istanbul, I would recommend this hotel.
“I am glad I stayed there and will do it again”
The Hotel is cozy and is in great location. Rooms are little small, but clean and new. I normally don’t stay at 2 star hotels if it weren’t for all the good feedback I saw here. I decided to give it a try and I am glad I did. Breakfast was good, staff were helpful and spoke good English. The ride to and from the airport was flawless (I used both their Taxi and the shuttle). I had great time and would stay there again.
“A great hotel in Istanbul”
My husband and I love Hotel Agan, we have stayed there several times and plan to return. The staff if very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The rooms are very clean, and the restaurant is great. The location is also very close to major attractions as well as the metro.
“small, neat rooms”
Hotel Agan is a good choice if you are looking for a budget hotel in a good location. The standard room we had was very small but had all the essentials. It also had a small fridge. The bathroom is also quite small. The included breakfast was the typical Turkish breakfast-- tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, bread, fruit, hard-boiled eggs. It was the same each morning which can become monotonus very quickly. There are several restuarants at street level and the hawkers for them are very aggressive. We found trying to dodge them each day as we headed back to our room the worst part of our stay. Tried alternate route just to avoid them. The noise from these places at night is very loud so make sure you are on an upper floor to try to buffer the noise--- it goes on well into the night. But it is a good location for sightseeing though.
“Best hotel for tourist area”
The hotel was welcoming, clean and conveniently located. The room was just the right size. The buffet was average. The television didn't always work reliably. The bar/ cafe during the evenings is a great place to hangout, drink coffee/tea, smoke nargileh before going to bed. The hotel is very centrally located to all the major historic buildings, mosques, museums and transportation to beyond. I felt safe at all hours walking around the neighborhood. I'd stay there anytime again.
