“Great Family Run Hotel”

If you want Holiday Inn style rooms, food at Holiday Inn prices don't stay here. If you want a small family run hotel, with great service, wonderful local knowledge, good "free" breakfast, reasonable prices, English speaking manager/staff, small but clean rooms then the Erguvan is perfect for you. 200 yds from the Blue Mosque, and very close to other tourist sites. Plenty of local restaurants (i.e. not city centre "tourist" locations & prices) within a few streets. A perfect hotel in a quiet backwater.

“Clean and Very well maintained hotel”

I spent a weekend at the Hotel Erguvan and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Hakan and the staff were very cordial. Upon check-in they spent 10 minutes with me, reviewing a map, identifying the key sites, recommending restaurants, cautioning me about tourist scams, and provided an overview of their hotel amenities. I was very surpised to learn that the hotel has been in business for over 8 years as it it very clean, well-maintained, and from all appearances looks brand new. I stayed in a small economy rate single room. It was exactly what I expected, and suited my needs adequately, as my primary focus was to be outside the room sightseeing. They also prepare a nice breakfast buffet of pastries, cakes, cheeses, and other items. The breakfast room is on the fourth floor with a wonderful panaramic view of the Sea of Marmara. The keys sites in the Old Historic district are only a 3 minute walk up the a hill. I knew I was close to the historic area, but was surprised just how close.

“Close to historic attractions”

The free pick up from the airport on arrival was not forthcoming however the free return to the airport on departure to make up for their oversight was offered and accepted. This was the only glitch and the level of service overall was very good. Room facilities were clean and fresh, good views and the free WiFi was excellent. We would have liked to have had tea and coffee making facilities. The attractions locally in Sultanahmed were within easy 5 minute walk.

“A jewel in Istanbul”

I was very impressed with the hotel. The staff was extremely helpfull and friendly. Free internet, beautiful views from the room and proximity to the blue mosque, Sophea's mosque and the palace is just plusses. The free breakfast, served on the balcony overlooking Istanbul, was great. Well worth the money.

“Perfect location......”

..for all the major sights/restaurants and the Bospherous. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful providing maps and info when asked. The rooms are on the small side but adequate for a short stay, with double-glazing and self-controlled A/C-heating.The breakfasts very good(typically Turkish) and the views from the terrace excellent.

“Excellent hotel in a close location with extremely helpful staff.”

Breakfast on the hotel rooftop each morning was a wonderful way to start the day. The staff members were extremely helpful in advising where to go, what to see and how to get there. The room was bright and comfortable and bathroom very clean. Staff were also able to assist in orgainising tours and gave information about cheaper alternatives. They also provided information about local restaurants.

“Delightful Place at the Footsteps of History”

We stayed at Erguvan from 23/6/08 for a 4 night city break & could not have chosen a better hotel at the price. It is easy reach from the airport (25 mins.) and at our arrival there was a very simple check in and in no time we were presented to the room. The room was ultra clean & the bed had new sheets and bathroom had fresh towels. There was a safe to use(free of charge) in the cupboard. The view from our room ( or any room for that matter) was just an ordinary street composing residential/commercial ambience. The hotel serves continental breakfast on their roof terrace, which is sumptuous with a large variety of drinks, breads, pastries, juices etc. & the lady who served was very amenable & polite. The view from this terrace is awsome. You see the sea of Marmara to one side & the Sultanahmet(blue) mosque to the other, with western side of the city & it's skyline in between. All members of the hotel spoke reasonable English. Our room was found to be a little small, but fully functional otherwise. In contrast the lobby is a very comfortable place to be in which is very beautifully decorated and unmistakeably capturing the ambience of Istanbul. It has a T.V., free internet, info leaflets, wellplanted atrium & above all helpful staff at all times to orient. The immediate sites to visit are a comfortable walk from the hotel & the tram is 10 mins walk away. In conclusion the hotel added to the whole experience being in Istanbul very special.
